Interesting, Bello was rumoured to be going back to Victoria. The Adelaide board weren’t overly keen on him, but there is other issues at play there (coaching issues) - the head coach and now former senior assistant being the primary ones!

Anyway, good luck to him, an open mind and see how he goes.

Shepard has experience at Collingwood and Carlton? Two of the poorer lists for talent depth outside of the blokes that were picked up early in drafts?

Get someone from Geelong or Sydney over here.

Little harsh, Shepard was at the Pies since 2012 and was one of the people who helped build their 2023 premiership team

Yeah fair but that team wasnt really that good imo despite winning the flag, at least in comparison to others.

I’d prefer trying to get quality footballers in the door not a moneyball approach like Richmond or Collingwood, because I don’t think that will work with our travel/fixture. A lot harder to keep up a pressure gameplan with role players when you’re on a plane every second week.

They won as many flags as Geelong and Sydney in that time(unless you count the year he joined, of course), without the pull of heaps of players wanting to go to them, high draft picks, $1 farms/pubs/Cotton On sponsorships/Academies/etc.

Say what you will about Collingwood's cushy draw and lack of travel(Dogs travel less though...), they've still had to be very savvy with their list building to stay up there, Naicos the only real boon they've got in that time.

Swans 1st rounders since 2017

Matthew Ling
Nick Blakey
Dylan Stephens
Logan McDonald
Braden Campbell
Angus Sheldrick
Jacob Konstanty
Will Green
Caden Cleary
Jesse Dattoli
Ned Bowman

Obviously some far too young to judge, but there's one hit there (Blakey) and one should be pretty good one day (McDonald)

They get a massive leg up from their academy

WCE_phil has Wooshas appointment as director of football been made due to Pyke wanting someone he can trust to over see the football side of things? Or has it been a decision made by the board to put someone in the role with a big enough presence to stop Pyke from trying to micromanage the football department?

Hahahaha it's like half a page up and a comprehensive coverage of his business history. 😂

"I'm not here to take a reading test! I want to see some credentials!"
There is always another meaning hidden in every Simpsons joke. When you think about it, what Homer is really thinking (as I do) is the psychologist has all those pieces of paper stuck on the wall to justify the exorbitant fees she charges, but what Homer wants to see is evidence of her proven track record of actually HELPING couples!

New director appointed to replace Paul Fitzpatrick - Mark Paganin

Swapping one lawyer for another and from the same law firm to boot

Looks like he’s a Scotch College alumni which is an automatic black mark along with being a Claremont supporter

Can Monocle or AsterixTheGaul shed any light on this bloke?

Mark is a terrific guy. He actually went to St Louis (they merged with Loretto to become JTC when they were located the other side of the railway line) but his son went to Scotch (not sure how many sons he had). Showing he wants the best and not held back by family tradition. He was very active in the School Council from memory.

This is a quality appointment. He will make out board room better

I played against him when he was at Uni ammos (he was a hard nosed but talented mid) - my club had a solid rivalry in the 80's with Uni. He played it hard and never shirked the contest. Always happy to have a beer or 2 with him after the game (yes, we did those things in the 80's as ice baths were not in our vocabulary)

He is a lawyer (like his brothers Karl and David) but I see him as the smartest out of the 3. In terms of character, intellect and football insights, he is a massive upgrade on Fitzy. And yes I knew Fitzy in the 80's and never expected him to be chair of the Eagles as his character, intellect and football ability were all on a par (not that great from my memory).

I endorse ATG’s comments Mark is a quality appointment.

I don’t know him as well as his brothers Carl and Dave, who I coached.
Was chair of the Scotch Council and was well respected and held in high regard.

Very happy to have him join the Board he is a very competent addition.

Your anti-Claremont rhetoric weakens us as a board, fan base, community and species.

Oh I’ve learnt to ignore Keys anti Claremont rhetoric. But there again he schooled south of the railway line so he probably has an in built arse twitching when he gets to the Mighty Monts and the College on the Hill
