Bagging opposition supporter threads/posts on this board

I'm not saying we shouldn't give opposition supporters a bit of a ribbing but some of us are taking it too far. Opposition supporters come on here and post something interesting or useful or worth while reading and there is always some nutter to say something stupid and make us all look bad. If there trolling get into them I say, if there not, give them a fair go and don't stoop to the level of the scum.

Makes this forum better if opposition supporters aren't discouraged from posting here. As long as they post quality content and aren't trolling.

So lets not attack a poster because their status says something other than Carlton unless what they are saying is negative or non constructive.

We're Carlton supporters, were better than this. Leave the bogan stuff to Joffa and his mates .

I agree, I am a Eagles supporter, but I am also a footy supporter too, I do like watching other teams and players play so long as they are not versing the Eagles

I'll chip in on other teams threads from time to time, not because I am trolling, but because their are a lot of interesting arguments and opinions, and as long as it's constructive, I don't see the point in bagging them.

I made my way onto the Richmond board yesterday and as soon as I posted something postitive about their training session...4 people start bagging me. Idiots.
Then I proceeded to tell them what I really thought about their training session and when I looked back on the topic later on....all of the posts were deleted.

Some supporters just don't like the truth....

There are exceptions eg Biffinator however I consider anyone from another team a troll unless they prove otherwise. If they have nothing better to do then hang out on the Carlton board they must be up to mischief. Plus Bay regulars or newbees stick out like sore thumbs. Treat them with the contempt they deserve unless they have already earned their stripes.
Be here over the course of a night and you will see how things can esculate and get out of hand. No, show them the door and ask them to tell their story walking.
Do you go onto their boards with the intention of hugs and kisses?

I don't bag out opposition on their boards, i just put down my honest opinion. Honestly I don't travel to opposition boards much. We do make ourselves look like tools when opposition supporters post here and we have a go at them for bugger all.

Its good to have a non Carlton biased opinion every now and then, and an objective outsiders perspective of CFC players and issues.

I get more pissed off by the few (thankfully) feral supporters of the navy blue than opposition trolls TBH.

I enjoy going onto the Collingwood board and reading their LOVE INS.

I also stick a needle in every now and then as they take great pleasure in writing some pretty ordinary things and posting some pretty ordinary photos about or Great club.

I hate them and respect them but why should I not enjoy some banter!

People on our own board are more one eyed and dare I say it, more Bogan than some of the Pie supporters.

It is good to hear what opposition supporters think, they can often see things more clearly than we do. Some of us can become a bit blind (one eyed) to issues/how good players are/how good we are. If you take how good opposition supporters think we/our players are and how good we think we/they are, the real answer is usually in the middle. If that makes sence. It's good to have a different bias/non bias opinion on things.

Hit the nail on the head. Supporters seem to hold a misconception that the only reason that an opposition supporter could be visiting their board is to troll. I mean, take a look at the Richmond board - that place is a joke. They lose a game and it's doom and gloom, sack Wallace, start tanking etc, they win a game and what did I see - a thread likening their list to Geelong's. A fickle bunch those Tigers supporters, I've seen them battle vehemently in the team changes thread with many suggesting that Cleve Hughes should come into the team because he kicked 6 goals in a VFL reserves game and that any senior player who plays one bad game needs to go back to the VFL for a few weeks.

Anyway, I guess the crux of my point is that people on this site need to realise that people don't always travel to opposition boards to troll, sometimes they hold a genuine interest in what is going on etc.

I agree gbatman and said as much in ODN's 'comment on the Carlton board' thread. Better to judge posts on their content. Useless trolls should whacked and whacked hard and while others can and should be ribbed; trying to induce them into infraction worthy replies drags the quality of the board down.

I'm equally as interested, if not sometimes more, in the take of an opposition suppoter. Especially when on the Carlton board as it effectively filters out rubbish and has the potential to generate a unique discussion not availbale elsewhere on BF.
