Barry Hall Reported

How quickly we forget.

Eade recruited BBBH... and at the time I thought he was ...mad!!!!

BBBH... under the guru calm Roos contained his head butts... became responsible and became a fantastic footballer ...in 04 05 & 06

I was proven WRONG!

But still had to "gut punch" Goose Macquire in a PF!:o

I laughed loud (coz I was 3 parts drunk at the time when he snaped at Staker)....the only reason was a yearning for the days when that happened regularly. There was no "sanity" in that different enjoyment.

All the good work done to create a captain given the rare 72yr drought honour of raising the cup... (which by the way I was there and THEN felt Kirk deserved that honour ...a thought later surely vindicated? )

To be the marquee... "Barry Halls Hall" focus of a massive TV marketing spend by the AFL

THEN...... to revert to an undisciplined cheap shot "biggerthanyouare thug".... is a disgrace!... for BBBH, for SSFC, SMFC, and for all those who put him in that position!

GREAT kick at goal!
Imposing figure!

Has done his best (long ago).... the use by date might say 9/10... but he is getting vEry smelly!:(

Im still angry at losing the way we did so emotions are still a little clouded.

We had 3 reports yesterday and sadly I think we may have guilty verdicts on all of them, though downgrades may be applicable.

I cant remember when we had 3 reports, we barely used to have 2 a year but do we have to consider that accepting Bazza's nuff nuff moments makes it difficult to bringing other players mistakes or ill discipline into line ass we accept them from a senior player.

It was easier to tolerate in a winning culture but a losing club does not have a happy culture and it is essential you do all in your power to stop a destructive one during the bad times, hello Brad Tunbridge.

I don't have the solution, it's a hard quandary as these brain fades obscure the fact he is a very effective player.

The thing that gets me is that we are a very hard working, unpredictable forwardline when he isn't there. It doesn't happen in the first two weeks of his absence, but rather once the same six get to know each other & where they are leading. It happened last year for 7 weeks where we won 5 of them. MOL was part of it but it also was the making of Moore last year against Port. Then Bazza came back, played well but too many others started to fade & looked lost.

Moore, Vespremi, Thornton, Grundy, etc....need to know that they own the forwardline. We must start that as soon as MOL gets his 300. Unfortunately MOL should have a rest after that along with Bazza & give the new kids on the block a chance to show their wares in the remaining 3 or 4 rounds.
Hell...............Benny Matthews didn't get to play his 200, falling 2 games short. Where the hell was the sentiment for him.

If anything, Benny was smore the team man of any of our players, forever having to play the non glamorous role of stopping an opponenent.

We've gone a little from what made us successful for those years. That's not good enough. There should be NO sentiment in Footy because too many othere individuals careers are at stake.

EARN YOUR SPOT IN THE TEAM.
It breeds mediocrity!

So all the new kids should get games and MOL and Hall should be gone no matter what and yet you say the players should earn their spot in the team.

Matthews didn't get to his 200th because he became a major liability on field and just wasn't good enough anymore.

I don't think the same can be said for Hall or MOL (yes he hasn't been great this season coming back from injury but i thought he showed improvement against Adelaide)

And there was absolutely nothing in the other 2 reports absolutely nothing if they arent thrown out then it wont be long until it is a non contact sport. I guess maybe that's what the soccer moms want?

bye baz..sign up for boxing now..you obviously want to punch people in the head more than play footy

Good to see both White and Grundy putting their hands up to be the next Big Bad Barry Hall:p

Roughing up Vince and then putting two players on the deck gets White the nod from me though.:thumbsu:

I hope you're kidding, MF. Vince was going for a Logie in the White collision, then two blokes (according to the callers) went for White and he stood his ground.

I love the spirit of the big kid, not dumb like Baz, just fired up and competitive.

Unfortunately, he didn't take 10 speccies and kick 8, so the same old tools on this board will be calling for him to be dropped.

But yeah, let's keep Baz, sign him to an incentive deal where he gets paid for every minute he can stay on the field without being a heckin'g idiot.

The looks on his teammates faces as they came off the ground at the end, where I'm sure they were planning on some kind applause or guard of honour for him, they barely could be bothered to even let him off first, and there was some very reluctant, resentful clapping.

If they've had enough of Baz, then I have too.

Even if MOL is retiring, I'd rather start from scratch than endure this ridiculous heart-in-mouth feeling every time Baz is involved with an opposition player.

I've defended him for years, even with the Hawthorn schemozzle two weeks back, but yesterday was a stupid disgrace.

His heart is still in he busts a gut for us..

No, that's the problem. He has stopped putting the team first, by his actions yesterday.

That dumbness.

Watch the replay of the incident; there's a split second before he hits Rutten where, watch his face, you can almost see the basic thought process occurring behind his eyes ... "geez, what do I do here? Lying across this bloke from the other team, there's been a whistle, there's the umpire right there, so ... oh fck it, I'm Barry Hall, I ... have ... to ... hit ... someone ...". Whack!

I AGREE MALFAN.

WHITE = HALL but WHITES HOTTER

Oh come on PB you cant fault his efforts ... PLAYING efforts.

Don't care. He HAS to go at the end of the season now, if he's lucky, may never play another game. White, Grundy, Veszpremi, DOK, Currie, Moore, would make a solid forward line if given the confidence to operate without Hall breathing down their necks. With ROK, Goodes, and Jolly all drifting forward at various times, that's a powerful forward line, and doesn't contain a single player with an IQ of less than the total numbr of members of the forward line.

I agree with other posters that we need BBB but I am sick of watching his childish reactions when things aren't going his way. He has been a great player for our team but I cannot remember any other club putting up with this level of stupidity from a player. It seems that every week he is being brought up in conversations about bad things that have happened on the field, he has for obvious reasons been targeted by the media for his deeds, however there are times that he has genuinely been treated unkind, whether it be by the media or umpires for that matter but there needs to be a time where the Swans say "That's it!" The fact that he is the face of the Swans in Sydney might be a telling factor..I would like to see him play another year but I'm not sure we need him..

My gut says that his time is up now, which makes me sad, but at the same time he seems to be losing it? It was such a dumb, no-win kind of an act, and worse still on a 'milestone' game. They predict he'll get 4 weeks, which could be a blessing in disguise. Time now to re-jig the forward line a bit, get Vez more involved. We've played well without Barry a number of times whilst he's been on the sidelines, no reason why we can't for the rest of the year.

You can't win this argument, Miss Vonn. I CAN fault his efforts, because his "efforts" take in everything he does on the field.

His "efforts" in lacking the self-discipline to prevent him punching a rival who wasn't expecting it were pathetic. His "efforts" during that incident showed complete disregard and disrespect for his teammates, let alone that it was a stupid and WRONG thing to do.

Yes, he runs, tackles, chases and can kick a goal, but that is not all there is to being an elite AFL footballer.

Apart from anything else, if he's allowed to carry on, he is setting the worst kind of example to teammates.

Nick Davis repeatedly broke team rules (we're told by the club) and his career was ruined.

We are condoning hypocrisy if Hall goes unpunished by the club in some way. He will get at least two weeks from the League; I don't care if he doesn't play for the club again.

Yes, we will miss some of the good things he can do with a football, but we won't miss the shit factor. We've got to rebuild, his career is coming to an end anyway, let's get on with it.

Your kidding right. We NEED Hall next season, without him we will have the weakest forward line in the competition and it wouldn't surprise me if we finished bottom 4.

Sign Hall up for 2010 as i strongly feel that in order to win games we need to kick goals (or course i may be alone in that feeling).

I think you may be alone on this runvs. i have had a gutful, as have many others. plus i don't think our forward line will be THAT bad...

No i agree with him db.

and to PB yes i CAN. end argument.

Von is always right.

neeeext.

but seriously, his PAID to PLAY FOOTBALL and yes I kno that does not involve punching people but if he gets offered a contract, which he may, it will because of his footballing ability, which he undoubtly still has, and unlike Nick Davies, he tries his guts out for the team.. don't mention his brainsnaps, because I know they are WRONG but that does not take away ANY of his footballing effort and thats all Im talkin about.

barry's brain snaps are almost instinctive, he acts before he thinks

he is now bigger than the club

he is a walking liability.... as much as i love the guy, his agression and antics cannot be resolved, for the simple fact, that his fists thinks two steps before his head

the high praised leadership group, and maestro coach have to finally follow with the image they have created.... they always have seemed tough and unified, but when issues involve barry hall, they are unnoticabley quiet

also where's that 'no d!ckhead policy'

barry should go at the end of the season, only thing that would look worst than hall if he stayed, would be the club!

Then you don't know what you're talking about.

Therefore he didn't get to 200!! That is what I just said.
What exactly are you after from us now. Do you want to see these two players, Hall & MOL, start to be embarrassed on the football field? Well it's happening! For different reasons. Bazza because he can't keep his hands to himself like a little child that isn't getting things his own way & MOL because his opponent/s just ran off him time & again!
That's my definition of a "liability"! What's yours?

Here's another thought. If Bazza played AFL 20 years ago, he would well & truly have been put in his place by another thug like player & he would have had the stupidity beat out of him by retaliaters. Every team had them. Fortunately/unfortunately for him, todays opponents are far too disciplined to go down that path. This just makes Bazza think that he is invincible. I'd love to see Rutten go at it with Bazza whilst expecting it!!

I'm over it & many others are too!

The point is that Hall is averaging more goals this year than he has since 2006 if he played all 22 games this year which i know he wont he would have a 60 goal year and we can not replace that.

I know everyone wants to see the young kids playing and i do too but what i dont want is to see the young kids losing every single week and I think losing both Hall and MOL in the 1 year will go a long way to making that happen. Just look at carlton have been losing for years and are struggling to turn it around. White and Johnston need someone with experience in the forwardline to show them how they need to play to be successful and unless your willing to make Goodes a permanent forward from next year and rob the midfield of his ability Hall is the only one that can do that.

MOL is averaging about the same number of disposals he has for the last few years just isnt quite converting it into goals.

So no i dont think that either of them are embarrasing themselves at all.

Baz is a great character always entertains no matter how he'd playing, I'd hate to lose him. the game needs characters but unfortunetely there's few left - they're all becoming robots:( play on next year Baz.

Love him or hate him, Hall puts bums on seats, hes the only player in Sydney that makes headlines even if for the wrong reasons, people in NSW like their sportsman tough and your kidding yourself if you think Hall couldnt handle himself now or back then! I like your posts Tedeski, but if your gonna tear up you and your familys memberships coz your kids might be distressed by his antics, you wont be missed! Footballs a tough game mate, believe it or not, most kids love him! (well mabee not yours, they must be like the flanders kids from the simpsons)

Bums on seats can NOT be a consideration any more.

Check the faces of Hall's teammates as they leave the field after the game; most of them have to concentrate so they're walking slower and letting Baz walk off first for his 250th, and the applause is hardly warm and encouraging.

We now have too many players having to rush to Hall to "focus" and "calm" him during games - geez, even young Thornton had to do it yesterday. Kirk, Goodes and co must be sick of it; Hall is not some inexperienced rookie.

As far as I'm concerned, if the players are fed up with Hall, and are actually being distracted from their own games by his antics, then the club can no longer afford him.

but are they fed up with him? I wouldnt be judging it on body language after a loss, and sadly bums on seats ARE the most important thing to the fickle Sydney market at the moment!

Fine Alex!

Then we better sign them both up for another 2 years each! That way Laidlaw, Thornton & others can go elsewhere & try their 'luck'!
Then we' can scratch our heads. Maybe MOL can be our first 400 game player.
My opinion has nothing to do with how they are both presently playing. It has to do with keeping some of the youngsters interested in staying at the Swans.
I get the feeling that Roos is feeling this too. White is a Queenslander. Laidlaw a Victorian. We've got them. Let's use them. Not lose them. Let's see if they've got what it takes in these final 9 rounds. They just might surprise you all. They won't surprise me because these kids WILL give it a go.
Yes Barry kicked 4 goals. The ball came his way about 20 - 25 times. What might a Thornton or Grundy do with the ball coming his way 20 - 25 times...................good delivery or bad delivery. Would they start throwing their weight around when it doesn't go their way. When play is stopped for a bounce, would they do a quick punch to the chest or throat of an opponent thinking no one would see it. Hall is high maintenance now. Has been for two years. He is taking too much of the coaching staff's attention. He is taking too much of Kirk's attention.
He has no more upside. Neither does MOL! I love Mick! I loved Ben Matthews. I loved Barry Hall pre 2008 against West Coast. I even stuck up for him against the Hawks.

But BARRY HALL DOESN'T GET IT!!
