Does anyone find it a bit wrong that jimmy would not be at tonights game? Given the flogging gaz copped a few years ago for leaving a game early, its pretty poor for our vice captain to not go considering we have 2 debutants and its probably our most important game of the year so far.

after as many years of service as Jimmy has given and his track record - I will give him a freebie on this one.

GO Catters

Where is he?
dont know on his girlfriends twitter she says they have gone away. Given he had a bye a couple of weeks ago and spent last week on the gold coast he should be at the game

If we win, who cares, but if we lose I'll be questioning Jimmy's decision....

I reckon it's good he's got away from football to be honest. He's one guy we will need in finals and spending time away with his girl and away from the football will be beneficial in the long run home

I can't see how his absence can possibly influence the game result either way, so I think it'd be a bit harsh to apportion some of the blame his way if we do lose....

I'm sure he's been given the blessing of his team-mates and the club, so I don't see it being an issue.

Why do you care? Jesus...I don't get why people worry about stupid irrelevant things like this.

Hope he is watching from his couch in a nice warm room.

If the game was interstate he wouldn't have gone,so what's the difference with tonight ?

I am not worried jimmy was not there.I just hope hes doing the work on the track and hits the ground running when get gets back in the team.Time away will be good for him as long chris and the coaches keep him fit.

I think Jimmy was procreating tonight :thumbsu:

wouldn't mind a couple of Jimmy's running around for the hoops in 20 years time

That's assuming any Geelong player is needed in finals...the way we are travelling atm that's looking a lot less likely...:(

irrelevant totally, not like he he's needed there for his inspirational oratory skills.
He is inspirational ONLY on the park.
This is our annus horribilus, and many in our team appear to be mentally and physically fatigued, why else the brain fades from our superstars.
Let him have the break he sought and needs.

Didn't like it when Ablett did it; don't like it now. You'd be expected to be there in a half-arsed local league. He's the vice captain, he's had a massive brain snap and arguably cost his team dearly (we will see next week). Why on earth does he deserve a holiday?

This is nothing against Bartel, or the service he has given the club. Just calling it as I see it.

Agree with your sentiment there, but do we really know what has gone on at the club?
How has the club dealt with his one-off act of stupidity?
It is probably not even his choice to not be there for all we know.

Totally reactive thread. Different scenarios. The game Ablett missed was in Geelong. And as if Bartel would've done it without the club's blessing.

And in before someone blames him for our loss last night: maybe we would've won with 3 Jimmys running out there. Put the blowtorch on the woeful goal kicking instead.

I'm pretty sure I remember Ablett missing a game against Melbourne at the MCG (or leaving halfway through). Any senior player should be there, let alone the vice captain. I'd even expect the vice captain of the team to hop on a plane, if we were playing interstate. No-one's doubting that the club didn't authorise it, but some sort of explanation would be nice.

If he's said to the club 'I need a break from footy, just for a weekend' then fair enough. If he just CBF, then it's a problem.

The way he played against Gold Coast, I would favor the CBF option. Just strolled around like he couldn't be bothered and trying fancy snaps from straight in front that went out on the full. Then carelessly picking up a suspension along the way.

I know he is a love child on here, and i love what he has done for us, but he should've been there last night, vice captain or not. They had a bye a few weeks ago, then a week away in sunny QLD last week.
