Beating Adelaide

The big question for me is who crowely tags. If he goes to Thomson, we know he will do the job. However, last time he nullified Thomson and we lost. The crows midfield seems to function without Thomson. So do we instead try and target someone, like for instance Dangerfield, who might cause more cracks in the crows machine,.


It's a big risk. It's possible Crowely does not have the attributes (does anyone?) to stop Dangerfield. We might end up, instead of nullifying one of their stars ,wasting our best tagger in an ineffectual mission, resulting in both tagging candidates running free.

 

[Frigate]

Adelaide's midfield is their strength. THey have loads of players that rotate through and if one does not step up another does. Thompson, Dangerfield, Vince, Van Berlo, Sloan, Wright. Then Porplyzia, Callinan and Johncock are running through the midfield and sneaking up forward. Similar to Freo our rotations through the forward line are playing midfield roles aswell.

Same as the Geelong match, if we can win the clearances and contested possessions through the mid then we will win the match.
Crowley - Thomson
Dangerfield - -team strategy to have players ready to black his run. Give him a free kick, just do not let him run and carry. De Boer could be an option as he is tough enough to hold him in tackles, and it would certainly be a win for us if he is kept to under 25 possessions and no more than 1 goal.

McPhee to Porplezia. He should be able to be 3rd man up, and he is fit enough to stop his runs. Porpleza likes to poistion well for marks and fill space. If he gets going then Adelaide win matches.

Dawson to Tippett and Silvagni to Walker (agree with posts in other threads, but I would no-t be surprised if this changed.

Finally, for the cliche of all cliche's - we have to take our opportunities. The weekend was no exception in players missing to many easy shots.
