Want him at Punt rd. ?

Seeings our great club has a penchant for recruiting all sorts of miscreants and social defects ... do you think we should have a crack at him at the end of the year when the Eagles decide to off-load ?

To good not to have a look at in my book ... is the prototype that plough is trying to build our side around .

Interesting days ahead where that boy is concerned ... if i were GM i would be on the phone already

Thoughts ?

If they aren't interested in a player equal to Judd which Cousins is, they aren't doing their job properly.
You would be a complete moron and half wit to not want him in you're team

I don't think moving from Perth would change his mindset. The guy seems to think of himself as above the law. Others who have benefited from moving have moved away from bad influences. With Ben Cosusins the bad influence seems to be himself.

We dont need that type of influence at our club, think about it he would be in his element in the Melbounre Underworld and everything.

He is already 28 years old and we would get about 5 Years out of him(Barring anymore off field indiscretions), but he would forever tarnish the clubs image and players.

The type of influence he brings to the club could affect certain OTHER players who are turning it around... it's a bit of a risk.

I would take the risk, he's a legend. He'll be clean soon anyway.

For sure. They went for Aka, and Cousins is in a different league to him.

Rate him higher than Judd.

Couldnt care a less about off field indiscretions. Hate the way footy players are held to a different standard. They're footy players. They're not running for friggn parliament.

Get stuffed AFL and its code, not smoking at the Gee and mid strength friggn beers in the outer.

:) Nooooooooooooooooooo way!!!!

Can he play football? Yes...and brilliantly. Off field? Basket case? Not the sort of guy you would want the likes of Deledio, Polo, Tambling, Meyer, Pattison, Oaklkey Nicholls, Edwards, Casserley, Hughes, Riewoldt, Collins etc. hanging about and learning off.

We saw what impact a relatively minor infringement such as Schulz being over .05 (take that in the context in which I use it. Not condoning it, but he was hardly legless and anyone knows .05 does not mean drunk) can have on a cluib and its reputation.
Cousins' indiscretions are far worse!!!

Cousins = Arse clown!

of course you would. every club would - what a useless thread. its about as useful as the poll in the hearld sun the other day of "do you think chris judd would be a useful addition to your club?"

DUH!!!

He just needs to be pistol whipped and put in his place....in WA he is a god and treated that way. Bring him over, give him a locker down by the heads and a 5 year interview/media ban;)

I would be more then happy for those boys to learn off Cousins, just having them train with him would be so good for their development, and he would push everybody else with his massive work rate as well.
The positives far outweigh the negatives.
But I don't think he will be leaving WC

I also rate him higher than Judd in football terms, but on par with Laurie Angwin for off-field business and I wouldnt want him around such a young bunch of impressionable kids beginning what I hope to be long and successfull careers.

before recent developments, Id give my own right nut to have had him at Punt Rd, not anymore.

Fair enough

But by your criteria, being on the basis that he'd screw up the young impressionable kids, we should also get rid of Tivendale, Hall, Gaspar and everyother senior player that is showing the kids how to lose football games and not give a $hit.

What Cousins gets up to off the park measured against the performances of Tivendale and co on the park, are equally damaging

Possibly, but Cousins would be 30 by the time we could get him anyway... and really if he's been on the Coke for the last couple of years it will inevitably catch up with him.

He and Aker are my favorite 2 non-Tigers, and I wasnt interested in Aker either.

Quality player? Yes. Will he help win us a flag? No, in that case thanks but no thanks, our list is being re built from the ground up and has made steady progress over the last 2 years why go after a guy who might end up finished in a 2-3 years. We have taken a risk on Polak and the upside to that is he addresses a need the club had, tall defenders and has plenty of years left in his career. When the rest of the kids are hitting their prime so to should Polak by then Benny would be 33 and just about finished as a Footballer if he is not already.

Life ... the whole meaning of it ... is all about second chances .

Every single one us gets the chance to learn from our mistakes . Why should Ben not ?

Brownlow medalist , premiership player , Captain ....out and out star .
nuff said ... get the cheque book out Greg

No doubting all that, it's the cost that would worry me. The cost of getting him, and whatever baggage that may come with...

If he was 2 or 3 years younger, Id be all for it.

(damn wouldn't it be good to see a player with his physique in a Richmond jumper for a change, instead of the Hall's/Tivendale's etc...)

i would think he would at least have 5 good years left ... i reckon the RFC would be expecting to give it a real tilt within those 5 years ... so of course he would help us win a flag .
Thats assuming the list improves as much as we hope it does. However nothing ever goes according to plan and as such I don't think we would get the true benefit out of Cousins as we would if we were to get a different player. If there was an opportunity to get either Judd or Cousins I wouls much prefer Judd.

May I ask your position on the club recruiting Kent? I know he is not in the same league as Cousins in terms of ability but is of similar age and we have been criticised by others and some of our own for recruiting him on basic $, yet everyone seems to think getting 29 year old Cousins would be of benefit. Personally I just don't see it that way.
