Hawks are insane to want him in my eyes. Forward line is working well so why spend millions on it trying to fix it?

Gunston has max 1 year left after this a forwadline of Lewis (Could be injured at anytime) Chol (Solid role player) Dear/McCabe (Young developing talls)

But like, arent those pieces enough up front? Schubert, McCabe and Dear have shown a lot between VFL and AFL, even if Dear has regressed a bit this year. Surely another year out of Gunston is perfect for their development behind him?

Having Watson also means they dont need their KPFs to be the best in the league.

Would have thought putting all their eggs into midfield targets made more sense.

They wont be able to get Humphrey is my guess. They arent going to push anyone out of enough value for GC to entertain it. If Humphrey is desperate to get out he might have more luck with Melbourne.

Merrett and King is still pretty nice even if I dont get going for King.

But at least King is out of contract. They would want to be careful prioritising the contracted players over the out of contract one.

Can't see it happening, no matter how they trade. Essendon will want blood for Merrett, and fair enough. Hawthorn don't have much of the draft hand to offer up for Merrett, who isn't a free agent.
Gold Coast will want blood for Humphrey. And Ben King.
I think they will be lucky to land one, and that will cost them.
