Not good for Adam:
Meanwhile, Carlton have put midfielder Adam Bentick on the long-term injured list because of a knee problem.
This may ruin his career. He's been battling this knee for months now. He was always going to struggle as our midfield depth improved. In particular Hadley has taken his spot. I doubt he'll be looking forward to October. Would dominate at any lower competition but is unlikely to get another chance at AFL level.

On the positive side, this gives another rookie (probably Bentley) a chance.

tough break for the bloke. played some super important roles well last year, but with hadley fit and the emergance of a certain young crazy tasmanian who tackles just as hard and kicks goals to boot, i just cant see him playing another game for the blues.

Tears in my eyes...not sure why I love this guy so much but the fact that he was hard at it and always tried his hardest.:thumbsu:

Victim of circumstance...:thumbsd::thumbsu:

I LOVE THE CFC wishes him well for whatever the future holds.:thumbsu:

Enter Greg Bentley for sure!:thumbsu:

Ratts has mentioned how close he was to getting one of the first call ups....good luck to him!:thumbsu:

I was impressed with his efforts in the NAB cup.:thumbsu:

Yeah, you'd say that would be it for AB. Pity too, as he is still a young bloke at 23 and if he had an extra yard of pace you would think he would be given another shot elsewhere, if not for the nature of his knee problem.

Just fortunate it happened at a time when we have some reasonable depth.

Very unlucky for Benchy and it will take a lot of hard work to get back, let alone stay on the list past this year.

But if anyone likes hard work, it is him so it wouldn't surprise me to see him fight back.

I really like him and think he can be a very useful depth player for us in the future but he may well struggle getting back from this. Possible trade bait for the GC team?

The bright side of this is that it gives another rookie an opportunity to get elevated and push his case for senior selection. Bentley surely has to be the one to be elevated. I was impressed by him iin the preseason and wouldn't be surprised to see him play seniors at some stage this year.

What exactly is the nature of the knee problem?

I remember Bradley doing one-on-one half-lap sprints with him several weeks ago. What would that indicate? It wouldn't surprise me if it was cartilage given the sort of work he does in close. In which case he'll only get slower.

He'll be back. Good depth player and is majorly underestimated by supporters. Came in last year and did a great job and everyone was lauding him... just because he hasn't been in the frame for a bit doesn't mean he's going anywhere.

Honestly cant see Bentick getting back. Possible trade bait to the GC, but unless they take him i cant see him in the AFL after this year. A good servent of the club but time and speed is against him.

Terrible news about Bentick. Now we really need Hadley to stay fit, otherwise Judd will get stuck doing too much of the inside work.

Some day yesterday turned out to be:

AB's career threatened by injury
Battling a minor flood on the day that I am moving house (ironically after the last one burnt down)
and ODN thinks he is quitting.

the last one is a major disaster

Why is Bentley such a lock for promotion - Much rather see Stanton get a run as a Utility/Forward --> Bentley just seems like more of the same, part Wiggins, part Russell, nothing dynamic. We have found some gold by using our elevations in rather daring ways, bringing your run-of-the-mill flanker in isn't the best option, in my opinion that is!

Don't see how Bentley adds anything to our side. Stanton or Hill should be the next to consider if their progress justifies it. Stanton is a true KP forward size, and is very versatile. Hill is a 190cm fast aggressive utility - has slipped under the radar a bit, but looks to have a lot of ability. :)

Shame for AB, but trade bait is all he'll mean for us now I think.

Continuing the run of posts above I have to say I'm not too excited about Bentley either though.
