Was a bit bored tonight and decided to go scavaging for a few of the old bands I loved live. Lean pickins sadly, but a few I managed to dig up from the old days...

Would be interested to see leaping lindners, ghostsofjj, ASMS, contras and any of the other ol timers....

Radio Birdman
The Cruel Sea
The Fumes
Dallas Crane
Tumbleweed
Non Intentional lifeform
Fourstroke
The Mark Of Cain
Talking Heads
Ammonia
Spiderbait
Rollerball

These would be the ones i have listened to the most over my life.

Good call on Spiderbait.

They have become a bit of a cliche these days I suppose, but still, a great band nonetheless.

'Buy me a pony' is an aussie-epic. It should be made the national anthem: don't let anyone own you, whether it be business, woman/ man, or government.

I feel the little known feedtime should cop a mention - they were a sensational band to see live and their records were darned fine.

For those unfamiliar here is the wiki entry on them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feedtime

Definitely not to everyone's taste but few bands I have seen capture the primal energy feedtime did.

Some nice choices there evo!!
The Celibate Rifles, Painters and Dockers, Powder Monkeys and Hard Ons in particular were always great live. I didn't enough of The Sunnyboys live and apart from the reform gig earlier in the year missed the best of The Saints.
Only saw Birdman live since they reformed but they were always great. The Palace in 96 in particular was something exceptional.
I'd add to that the Beasts of Bourbon and TISM. I would have seen TISM at least a couple of dozen times and they were`always great. Mark of Cain and Died Pretty are a couple of others that never disappointed live.

I loved this song. Sydney's The Bam Balams 'Deliver My Love' released on Citadel in 1986.

This clip, as far as i know, only ever aired on ABC-TV's 'Edge Of The Wedge'. For those who don't remember it, Edge Of The Wedge was a "youth issues" type program that aired weeknights around tea time in '86. Tuesday nights (or maybe it was Wednesday's) was 'The Music Wedge' hosted by Mark Dodshon. They only played independent Australian bands and most weeks sent the ABC mobile recording unit out to film a show and air it. Among those filmed live were The Hard-Ons at the Hoptoun Hotel, Died Pretty at the Piccadilly, Screaming Believers at Adelaide's Tivoli Hotel and countless others. What a ****ing great tv show it was.

Anyway, while by no means one of the best Australian bands ever, i thought maybe LL and a few others might remember this one.

idk i would say my band is pretty good but we dont really have a name yet

Best Australian Band ever for me:

Seeing em tonight for my second time opening for KREATOR!!#$#@

No idea about 'best' but my favs are the two Is. Icehouse and INXS. Icehouse are criminally underrated/underplayed.

It seems to me you wouldn't know a good record if it leapt
off the turntable and bit you on the arse!

I was listening to my local radio station 3WM(possibly the worst in the western world) they had a promo The best music of all time which featured Icehouse excerpts, Electric Blue, Great Southern Land and Hey little Girl

which did absolutley nothing for me.

I am surprised this mob have not been made mention of yet.

This is not their greatest song either.

BBQ'in beats this hands down. I wonder if they did a clip for that.

Still have not been able to find a copy of Poo after all these years...

LOL music snobbery exists in Australia too! How cute. Just reading through.. Unbelievable!

"Oh, well, you think that's good. I saw Molten Koala at the Old Spot before they got popular and before their first singer died (they've since had 4, but none are as good) and I was the first in line to get the first T-shirt they printed which was the cover of the first demo EP they recorded (which was never released, but I still got it, and it's better than anything else they did) and I grew up with the singer and anyone who listens to the Saints is a sellout compared to this".

Get over yourselves.

For the record- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds has to be top of the list, don't they? Nick's original, prolific, and he has done what he's wanted on his own terms (the fact that Murder Ballads is his best-selling album would support this). He's had the nihilist underground punk youth, the 'love song' period, and is ageing gracefully with music as vital as ever (and with a side project that wrote 'No Pussy Blues' no less). Plus (off track), he's a respected author, with fans and critics. I saw them live a couple of years ago and they were the match of anyone I've seen. ****, they killed it.

Didnt Know Aloi Head & the Victor Motors had a clip out thanks for finding this I have them as one of my myspace "freinds"

This Ball Yes is a different version from the album Poo on the Poo album you can hear a Carn the Scrays been bellowed out at the start of the song , I like Everbodys Called John

I mentioned them a few years back on this forum when some peckerhead mentioned Shannon Noll should sing at the Grand Final I paid out on the **** and If I had my way it should perpetually be Aloi Head and The Victor Motors as pre amtch enteratiment.

Got the Early Grand Final record and it has Barnesy saying Aussie Rules is the best game ever ,didnt the **** say rugby league is the best game in the world when he performed at the NRL grand final 2001

Could not agree more Abercrombie.

The AFL's choice of pre match entertainment is nothing short of disgraceful...annually.

This year with the Saints in why not get the Weddo's to reform and sing "Under the Clocks" or even better seeing TISM do Father & Son.

At least the St Kilda crowd could go off. I'm sure somwehere down the line someone has written a song about their love for the Cats.

Aloi Head played a gig at the Tote a few years back. I could not get there unfortunately. Would have loved to have seen them live.
