Matera by a mile.

Wasnt the most consistent but he was easily the best to ever play. Cut teams a new one all the time.

Sublime skills, pace to burn and graceful as anyone to ever play the game. Absolute freak and very unlucky not to have a Brownlow along with his premiership and norm smith medallions.

Judd will soon pass him time though.

In terms of sheer brilliance, Matera & Judd are in a class of their own.

In terms of their value to the team, durability, solidity, and consistency, Jakovich, McKenna, Kemp, McIntosh are all worthy of recognition.

If Judd maintains the level he's currently at over the next 3 or 4 seasons, he will clearly be the best ever Eagles player. Until then, I'll go with Jakovich.

At the moment, Peter Matera by the length of the Nullabor.

If Chris Judd manages to play another 6-7 years without a career ending injury, then he will easily take over that mantle.

By then people will be asking "Wayne Carey, Leigh Matthews or Chris Judd?"
