I'm still on dial-up at the moment, and that obviously sounds good (anything's good compared to dial-up), but the two year contract puts me off. The AAPT $99 unlimited plan sounds good (includes phone rental too), but that's a two year contract as well. It's just too long to be locked in IMO. I've heard that Internet companies are considering abolishing the contract system soon, as it puts a lot of other people off too. Does anyone know how soon this is happening, if at all?
TPG Has unlimited ADSL2+ for $75 but it's not in my area, that's probably the best plan out. TPG suck though.
I've been with Optus cable for about ten years. In the last two years the performance in the evening has got bloody awful (400ms+ pings to local sites due to overselling) and there is a full outage every month or six weeks. And they keep offering all these great deals to new subscribers only - how about looking after your existing customers??? I'm paying $72 for 20g/40g.
I've put up with it because ADSL2 wasn't available here, but now I see Tarneit has been upgraded and all the players are offering ADSL2+. Is it worth considering a switch given the hassle involved? I don't want to tell Optus to get stuffed and then find I'm worse off.
Any clues for the clueless one here would be appreciated.
I'm still on dial-up at the moment
Ive been on the same plan for over 5 yrs with Optus its Cable $73 for 12g and 24 off peak.Is there better deals within Optus? Because ive been a long customer but have never been offered any special deals. So can you recommended better deals with optus? And yes i have ADSL 2 in my area, But is the better than Cable?Help Appreciated...Or should i switch with another company, but is there service good?PS On a different computer at school and it wont do Paragraphs![]()
The ADSL2+ with TPG is either a 12-month contract ($60 setup fee) or an 18-month contract ($0 setup fee). Not sure where you're getting 2 years from.
I have nothing but good things to say about TPG. Always fast, can download at 1.3mb second from good torrent sites.
O MY DEAR GOD!
I don't think I can get ADSL+2 in my area of Adelaide Hills, just regular ADSL. Still, that would obviously be a major upgrade from dial-up.
Reasonably sure contract for ADSL is even shorter - 6 months iirc.
Check the website under products -> ADSL and scroll down to the contract duration.
Optus have new plans coming out, from the 25th of April, to start 1st of May.
$50 (bundled with homephone, or $10 extra standalone) gets you 70/50 (120gb). $60 is 75/75 (150gb).
So if you are with Optus and want a good deal for once, or are looking to change but want a big name provider, wait for this.
Actually your best bet is to call cancellations on 1300555241 and they will offer it to you now.
They did to me last week but I am canceling because the connection has become unreliable. I ended up going for the new Bigpond deal of $88 for 25Gb (ADSL2+) and home line. I wanted to stay clear of them but everyone else said I can only get ADSL and therefore the price benefit of players like TPG just disappears.
