People seem to be forgetting that Masten is a clearence/ extractor player, what he is best at doing is going into the contested situations and using his very clean hands below his knees at getting the pill out to those around him, his turn of speed is pretty good, after that he is a brilliant runner around the ground in terms of running power is certainly one of the stronger picks of this bunch.
His kicking has been very damaging in the second half of the season, if you watch him live you it's very easy to see his qualities above others thumbling the ball around the contest. Tackling is a feature of his game at junior level and his tackling levels are well above average.
His work in tandem with those around him will be what makes him, true leader on the field and really set an example for the rest of the players while we had that tough patch through this year.

It has to be Cotchin, he has the most complete game.

Providing injuries and Richmond don't kill him, Cotchin will end up making the others like silly. Ridiculously talented

I am very happy with Morton. 194cm and elite endurance, plus uses the ball well and most importantly can use the ball well. As others have said needs to put 10kg to become elite though. I wouldn't really compare him to the others though because he is not really a pure midfielder, more in teh Adam Goodes mould, someone who can play forward, back or out on the wing.

Out of the others I would put Dangerfield on top at this stage but all have a stack of potential. Just love how strong Dangerfield is and how he can win the contested ball and stand up in tackles, even at his age.

Masten came along well in the second half of this season and I am sure West Coast fans will be happy with his progress. He has all the tools to be elite.

Palmer is a sensational gut runner, and although he has question marks over his disposal he should be able to work at this over time. Just have a look at Sam Mitchell and how effective he is these days.

Myers, haven't seen a heap of him but he looks like a bigger body than the rest and has a thumping kick on him.

Cotchin is silky smooth but who knows how good he will end up at Richmond. They seem to have an innate ability to turn extremely gifted kids into only average players. Hopefully Hardwick can change this because I would love to see Cotchin reach his potential.

Cale himself thinks he will end up becoming a KPP anyway.

I could definately see him holding down a CHF spot with alot more muscle on him. Whenever he drifts forward he seems to always manage to get a few goals. He's a great mark and a great set shot for goal.

Well I guess he should be removed from this poll then, as it's for midfielders, not KPPs.

The order for mine goes:
Dangerfield
Cotchin
Palmer
Morton
Masten
Myers

Dangerfield will be an absolute star by the looks of it, has the body and speed to be elite. However if Cotchin can get his body right, there is no reason as to why he can't be the pick of hte group.
Also Rhys Palmer is very much underrated on here, he was injured for most of the season and showed last year, in his first year, that if he can improve his kicking he will become one of the best players in the league. The query with Morton and Masten, especially Masten as I have seen more of him, is that he tends to go missing for far too many long periods in the game, now this may improve with more experience but at this stage that is a big flaw of his. Also in his 38 disposal game against Port Adelaide his disposals were quite ineffective and didn't impact the game enough.

For our own benefit I hope Myers proves the best, but my vote goes for Cotchin.

I think one player to keep an eye is Craig Malone. At 16 he is playing State u/16 for QLD, U/18 and seniors for his club. He has been named Junior Club Champion for the last 3 years in a row and at this young age has been named as the best ruckman the club has ever witnessed. He is 6'5 in height and weighs in at 95 kilo's. I beleive that he will be picked by an AFL club once he reaches 17 in late Feb.:thumbsu:

So if he wasn't drafted in 2007 and isn't a midfielder than what does he have to do with the poll being discussed???
