Scorchers 12 players beat Sixers 10.

Feel sorry for the Sixers fans having to sit through another Abbott over at the death. Fair dinkum the bloke couldn’t defend 20 I don’t think.

Regularly fails at the death or in important overs.

Imagine this - the coach of a hypothetical T20 team identifies a talented local prospect through his grade cricket contacts. Said prospect enters said side's developmental program and eventually wins the grade competition's best and fairest. Comes into said T20 side and plays a key role in a match-winning partnership.

Could never happen, surely?

Agree with your underlying point, but David was well on track for at least a shot at a pro-cricketing career before the Scorchers came along - was making under age Australian and WA representative squads and performing very strongly in grade cricket.

Is worth asking the question though, is that why is it seemingly the Victorian teams unable or unwilling to bring players through the grade system given how strong the competition is in relative terms. Seems to be a lack of imagination or commitment to giving the more unproven guys a shot - I know that Bowes has just started to get a game or two, but he's very much the exception to the rule.

Cos you have to play Dan Christian.

Surely scorchers need to look at brining short and stoinis back home with a few guys looking like Aussie team contenders and with klinger and voges getting closer to retirement.

I’d imagine Stoinis will but he was already contracted for this year before he moved back home
was aware of that. However, BBL is a very short tournament so the reason to come back home to be with family reason won't be as huge. Can see him re-signing with the stars.

Also with scorchers having a tight salary cap, stonis might be a bit too costly.

Might need to release or downgrade Mitch Marsh as he is unlikely to play at all

On that note, it’d be interesting to know what if any cap space the likes of Smith, Warner, Starc etc take up who are never going to play

Stoinis will join the Scorchers. Johnson, Voges and Klinger will open up cap room.

Don’t reckon Stoinis would entertain playing with the Scorchers.

Might just be my pessimistic thoughts but think he is more than happy playing at the Stars.

Would probably need to take a pay cut to come to the Scorchers and unfortunately the main reason for him coming back to WA to begin with, his father and his failing health, is no longer with us.
