Big Brad Ottens?

He's not useless, but he's not a superstar. He's a good ruckman, he's in the Top 10 for Hitouts in the AFL (9th).

Not.

A potential superstar that has been crippled by injury.

Now he's serviceable, but probably overpaid. Won't win may games for us on his own which is what you need when you're in the top few paid players at the club.

Not! He's taken a long time to warm up (and get confidence) but he's starting to find his feet and have a far more positive and predictable impact. It's a hard time with Kingy at the crossroads which seems to have meant that his influence is more important in the ruck. Still would have been good to have a key forward though...:)

Could you please BUGGER OFF from the Geelong board.
Go and play in the traffic, troll.

F**ked if I know why you bother coming on here just for a f***ing troll.
Surely you can't be bitter because you lost a frigging pre-season game.

Hehe...still disappointed that Mooney made Rutten look like a lumbering un-co in that final term!

Back to the topic, Ottens isn't the big key forward that will kick 60+ goals and Thompson never said he would be. He always said that if Otto kicked 30-40 goals and rucked a bit he would be doing his job. Due to King's inability to play, Ottens has rucked alot more than what would have been expected.

Many in the media expected him to be the messiah, so he's always going to be criticised for not performing to their expectations.

Joel Corey's supergoal is still hurting him...

Also a little shattered that Mooney made Rutten look like a useless hack in the final term! :D

He really has taken this pre-season loss badly.I know Neil Craig was taking that game very seriously, but I doubt even he got so cut up about the loss like RooterLad has.FFS,it was 3 months ago.Get over it.

Dud? Just what gives people the right say that about any AFL player let alone one who has played as much as BBO. Just to get drafted these days indicates you are an above average athlete/player.
As others have rightly said, once a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away he had the potential to be great player. Nasty word , that potential. Its simply the educated guess of braggarts and know its all (like us) of how good someone can be. There lots of ways to prevent oneself reaching ones potential , Brad and Dog Johnson have certainly acquainted themselves with a couple.
The only question that perhaps is raised regularly on Brad is his metal competitiveness and strength. As much as he has had the talent and size to be a leader I’m not sure he is a natural leader in attitude. That aside he is long way of a dud.

agreed, He is a useful player in a number of positions and is no dud. While he is not the match winner we hoped he would be when traded from Richmond, he has been our saviour this year in the Rucking department. With Kingy out injured so much he has stepped up to the plate with some great performances in the Ruck. Pity the rest of the midfeild couldn't match his efforts.

and done a fairly good job, especially when you consider he had no pre-season.

Ottens can't be blamed for the forward problems. He hasn't been up there much due to King missing.KK,H & Dog are more to blame.

Agreed...his ruck work has been good. Still runs out of puff but that is to be expected because he isn't very fit due to missing a pre-season and rarely training during the week.

I thought Ottens in the forward line/ruck worked well last year before his groin injury set in....but it worked because we had a pretty full list up and running.

Ottens can still be a handy forward, but with king still injury prone and Blake learning the ropes, the chances of Ottens sitting in the goalsquare for majority of a match this year are low.

Dud.

Well he is useful, clearly not worth what we are paying him.

Solid ruckman is all. Lower bracket than Cox, Fraser, Simmonds, White.

He didn't make him look like one. He is one.

As for Otto, we should be thankful his body is holding up. Our wonderful captain can't get out of bed without injuring himself and Otto is left to ruck for much longer than we'd like. Don't forget he hardly had a pre-season.

He hasn't delivered what we hoped but that is for a number of reasons. He's been solid and one of our more consistent players over the year.

His ruckwork is sublime and puts King to shame. So while he hasn't got the results on the scoreboard he's helped us out in other areas.

Still happy with the trade and always will be.

Yeah a very good ruckman. the real question should be is he overpaid. Only a ****ing knob would say he is a dud but you could question his contract. Hopefully he will take a paycut (along with a few of the boys) to help us get our list to a permiership.

Not. No he's not a matchwinner (game against PA excluded). No he hasn't kicked 50+ goals a season for us, nor is he likely to. But at the moment he's a solid ruckman, albeit one without a lot of fitness. The "dud" tag is really only thrown around because of his profile and the expectations on him. The fact is, we paid a premium for him based on our need of a quality tall. It cost us dearly, but it was a move that had to be made. He's no superstar at present, that doesn't make him a dud. He's a better ruckman than plenty of others out there.

Not a dud but not the returns we were hoping for with the trade. Remember we lost Benny after the Ottens trade and that could have made all the difference in the value he provided or provides to the Catters.

Rooster Lad = Dale Mortimer??

Hahah im bitter? You are the one going off your trolley!!

At least Adelaide have played some decent footy when the real season started, you have gone from premiership favourites to a chance at adding to your soup kitchen!!!

I bet Dale Mortimer is a better ruckman than Ottens and he isnt overpaid either.
