It's funny remembering how salty some posters got when we first recruited the big man.
"What a waste of time!"
"Put resources in to local players"
"He's going to take coaches attention away from actual players who have a shot at making it!"

Imagine if he'd gone to North. I bet those same posters would be lamenting the missed opportunity to grab such a talent for absolutely nothing!

I think it's important to concentrate on the negative aspects of any new initiative... at least in the early stages. It's good to be fearful of trying something new.... to maintain the traditional ways of doing things... and then when we are absolutely certain that new methods will work, we can change our mind and show some support. That way, we can punish people for trying new things that don't work....

Are you fearful of trying new jokes?

Nickname has to be "yankee doodle dandy"..... What a legend!

That bounce on the run and goal was epic.
The roar in the stands was something else when he kicked that goal. You had to be there to experience it but the hairs on the back of my neck were definitely standing up. He certainly has some learning to do and if he does he will be amazing.

I was there, was yelling at him to bounce it actually because he'd missed the opportunity to go quickly over the top to Varcoe.

Leaving the game yesterday and my 7 year old (girl) says "Daddy can I get another badge today?".
"Sure, who do you want sweetheart?".
"MASON COX !!!!!!!!"
Welcome to the Pies Mason, you've made it.
*Big shout out to the 5 Geelong supporters behind us who whinged from start to finish who were going home to watch the 2011 GF, sure you did. ;)

I love this guy..he's awesome.

He's fast becoming a cult hero. I find myself watching every Pies game now to cheer the big fkr on.

He's bloody hard to match up on. He's only going to get better too as he learns.

Seems like a good bloke too.

BIG COX!!

my wife has started watching games as well for this same reason.

Though, in saying that. She's always liked big Cox ;)

Agreed. I got up out of my seat and I'm usually reserved.

He's a spectacle to watch. Bucks loved it. He didn't do the team thing, but because he finished it just lifts the team and the crowd.

They need to teach him to kick around his body. There was an opportunity before the Fas got hold of it to pass to Pendlebury.

How good was it to see Geelong double teaming him at marking contests? First time a bloke in his 5th game has occupied 2 defenders? We are getting hard to defend against with the form of some of our forwards, and if Cloke has form it will be a nightmare for the opposition.

Whilst some may want to compare Masons terrific goal with Justin Maddens from 1993, I don't.
Madden was far more clumsy and oafish.
Besides, not sure what it was, but just can not stand Justin madden, could be Carlton, his oafishness, his speech patterns being like a common dullard, or just his looks, have never ever warmed to him. Ok, the Carlton thing really doesn't help.
Always came across as a dim wit

The only thing that is/was bad about Justin Madden was the jumper he wore, the rest is/was very likeable.
