He merely adopted the west. He wasn't born in it, molded by it.He was 27 when he started playing for the Warriors. Cant claim him as a Sandgroper.

Will this be the last World Cup that is this big a deal?
Tectonic shifts in the game have marginalised ODIs severely. Still, the 50-over World Cup is the sport's apex event - and it will be this year as wellwww.espncricinfo.com
Interesting article on the World Cup. Not sure if its the advent of T20, Age or the dominance of our teams back then, but the World Cups from 99 to 07 felt like larger events. Probably a combination of all 3.
If there is a squeeze that is going to occur on the Cricket calendar for T20, then I think it has to be the amount of ODI cricket that is played.
Still fair effort to get the vics out for 256. Took 10 wickets for 140 odd runsThat is a bad bowling line up, particularly with most of our all rounders in India.
He was also like 26 when he started playing for Australia. Basically played most of his cricket as an Australian cricketer hereHe was 27 when he started playing for the Warriors. Cant claim him as a Sandgroper.
We have a pretty good B team:WA XI:
Bancroft
Whiteman (c)
Wyllie
Goodwin
Hardie
Philippe (wk)
Turner
Stobo
Gannon
Rocchiccioli
Haskett
Bowling is pretty ordinary without Jhye, Paris and Morris. Anybody know Jhye’s injury is right now?
The Vics look pretty strong, not missing much at all:
Dean
Pucovski
Kellaway
Handscomb
Merlo
Sutherland (c)
Harper (wk)
Perry
O’Neill
Murphy
Boland
Haha, you are off your rocker. Until you move away from WA you dont realise just how much a chip is carried around on some Sandgroper shoulders. MJ was born and bred in Townsville, all his development as a junior right through to test player was in Queensland before moving to WA as a 27 year old and you want to claim him as a West Aussie? Give me a spell. He was also like 26 when he started playing for Australia. Basically played most of his cricket as an Australian cricketer here
We have a pretty good B team:
Short
Inglis (wk)
Marsh
Green
Cartwright
Turner
Stoinis
Agar
Paris
Richardson
Morris
Only Morris hasn't played for Australia.
Interesting that Goodwin is playing. Is Cartwright injured? And where is Marcus Harris for Victoria?

Bancroft continuing his run of very good form.
Also, Jack Edwards having a good game for NSW..... 6 wkts backed up by 87 runs in the middle order.
..and Thommo. So why do Queenslanders claim Allan Border as one of their own since he was born and bred in Sydney? Same applies for development in NSW, played his first test while still playing for NSW as well. Didn't move to Queensland until he was 25.
Seems a bit hypocritical
I didnt actually know that, and my point stands. Its not hypocritical, if thats the case then I agree, NSW player. So why do Queenslanders claim Allan Border as one of their own since he was born and bred in Sydney? And they claim Jeff Thomson who moved from NSW aged 25.So why do Queenslanders claim Allan Border as one of their own since he was born and bred in Sydney? Same applies for development in NSW, played his first test while still playing for NSW as well. Didn't move to Queensland until he was 25.

WA probabaly has a few ahead of Mitch to name a field after I would think. But perhaps he will do enough for cricket in WA in his retirement that they do see fit to name a suburban ground after him.No worries, look forward to some matches from Mitch Johnson field in WA down the track maybe![]()
Tommo has def been an adopted QLDer, featured in XXXX or Powers ads. Chappells have always been croweaters though, dont think they have ever been considered QLDers. And they claim Jeff Thomson who moved from NSW aged 25.
And Greg Chappell who moved from SA, also at 25.
Both were Test cricketers before the move as well.
