That’s what I mean about context though - kissing someone’s ring is clearly an act of deferral and subservience to that person. Are you suggesting taking a knee - in a collective, unified gesture - implies subservience to black players?
tbf I would also sit out for those pink breast cancer charity days as well
demeaning af having to wear pink when I’m trying to play sport. I only wear pink for God or my wife.

I feel a lot of sporting codes are trying to separate sport from politics.Wait so CSA didn’t allow the players to even stand hold their arm up? I know last time they had a few players do that while qdk and other just stood there too.
Lendl Simmons faced 35 balls - of which he attacked just five, including the one off which he was bowled for 16. Nineteen of his 35 balls dots and all of his 16 runs came via singles. According to ESPNcricinfo's Smart Stats, which lends context to every performance, Simmons' runs had a negative impact of minus 36.77.
It sounds like the ICC requested that all teams to take a knee shortly before the tournament commenced. They didn’t mandate it but requested that teams do it. CSA probably thought it would not reflect well on them if their players didn’t comply with the request. It also sounds like there are currently some internal issues within CSA with past behaviour of the current head coach, and an assistant coach left recently as a result. So there’s a bit of context around it.Taking the knee has turned into a political statement to support BLM .
Why Would QDK not be allowed to play in Australia if he chooses not to support a side of identity politics ?
We don't require player to do that if they don't want to
Scorchers don't take the knee before games they take their shoes off stand on the grass and thank the indigenous caretakers of the land here in Australia as a gesture to fight racism.
Why do we have to follow what the US do ?
It's not like their country is the benchmark for anything these days and we shouldn't be following the lead of a country that is such a bloody mess .
That’s exactly what the commentators were saying at the time. It was a strange innings to watch but wasn’t that big a deal while Lewis was smashing them everywhere![]()
The Simmons no-show chokes up West Indies
Simmons attacked just five off his 35 balls, leaving Gayle, Hetmyer, Pollard and Russell little time to cover upwww.espncricinfo.com
At a certain point if you're struggling you might as well swing for the fences because even if you get out it'll be better for your team than staying in.
There was no taking the knee before the Australia vs SA game and de kock didn't withdraw so I doubt it was before the tournament. It sounds like the ICC requested that all teams to take a knee shortly before the tournament commenced. Pretty hard for CSA to let some of their players ignore the ICC request given there’s no separating politics from sport in the CSA. A large part of the their mission appears to be using sport to effect social change in SA, so they are always going to be inherently political and conflicted whether or not we as outsiders like the idea
It’s seems to have gained some attention here bow. The BBL basically ruled a line through Chris Gayle after that interview. Maybe QDK is trying to get out of his current deal with CSA and trying to move to England in a kolpak deal or something similar. That said it’s a very risky move toTaking the knee has turned into a political statement to support BLM .

Yeah I am just going off a quote from Bavuma’s press conference. He said it wasn’t enough notice from the ICC to discuss it amongst the group. So maybe it was just requested before that match. There was no taking the knee before the Australia vs SA game and de kock didn't withdraw so I doubt it was before the tournament.
Sounds like it was just before the SA vs windies game
Bavuma and his team received a directive from the CSA board at 9am Dubai time on Tuesday, five hours before they were due to take on West Indies, asking the players to collectively take a knee before every game.
Aren't kolpak deals no longer a thing after Brexit? It’s seems to have gained some attention here bow. The BBL basically ruled a line through Chris Gayle after that interview. Yeah there was another quote claiming the ICC had requested all teams comply with it but I can’t find it anymore. Maybe it’s been corrected.![]()
Temba Bavuma: Team 'surprised and taken aback' at Quinton de Kock's refusal to take a knee
"As much as you have the choice to decide what you want to do, you can't escape the consequences of the choices and decisions we make"www.espncricinfo.com
Ben dunk refused to take the knee in the big bash and the media tried to throw him under the bus except dunk got massive support on social media so they shut up about it .It’s seems to have gained some attention here bow. He doesn't have to say anything about it. Its his business.. No matter what he says he will be done over by social media and left wing nutjobs who wont be happy until he is sacked never to work again for having an alternative view. Will be interesting if/when he breaks his silence on the matter and reveals his reasons why
I think the situation is interesting and would be keen to hear things from his perspective. I certainly think he'll be received better by we 'left wing nutjobs' if he provides some clarification behind his decision and feelings on the subject. He doesn't have to say anything about it. Its his business.. No matter what he says he will be done over by social media and left wing nutjobs who wont be happy until he is sacked never to work again for having an alternative view.

Calm down Avi, put the chopping board away.
Silence makes the situation worse. There are other people in other sports who have chosen not to kneel, but they explained their situation and people accepted it and moved on. By not addressing the matter it only fuels speculation and makes it worse.
Unless of course QDK does harbour hardcore racist views, in which case it will be a career limiter.
