Whats the go with this kid at the moment? Hows he going? Any chance of him cracking the 22 this year?
I was keen on this kid before he even got drafted I honestly think he has one of the better marks Ive ever seen and his a good shot at goal(from what Ive seen) I think that if we just put him in the square with his mark and size he would do a better job than what Hendo's done for us so far and don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Lachie but his form as of late has been pretty poor and I wouldnt mind seeing some fresh blood in that forward line, wouldnt mind seeing how Simon White goes up forward either though I do like him in the backline.

I personally think that he will get a run out at the end of the year after playing much of it for the Ants :)

I think that next year, if he does ok in his cameo appearances this year, he will spend more games playing for the firsts... probably about a 40-60 split and in 2012 and beyond, he will be in the emergencies list each week as part of the first team...

I seriously dont see him getting any game time up front for the blues at this stage of the year... we want to get our forward line settled and firing before throwing this kid to the wolves (so to speak) and ruin him like what happened to Livo.

I've seen him at training a few times , and 2 Bullants games , and he has a long way to go .
Looks like he will make the grade for sure , but don't expect too much before 2012 .

Simon was moved forward against Collingwood and presented well and looked quite good. Perhaps rotating Levi and Lachi in the seniors would do no harm at hall, it would be good for Levi's developement.

Levi would get annihilated at senior level. If he plays, I reckon we would be in serious trouble with our list.

Levi is a lump of a kid that needs time to mould into an AFL footballer. Put him in our forward line right now and he'd make Tom Hawkins look like Usain Bolt. They'd be running off him at all times and we would suffer immeasurably.

I'm excited by Casboult but the reality is that he has a long, long way to go. Let him work hard in the Bullants for the entire season. There is absolutely no reason to play him in the seniors at all in 2010.

Whilst there was no internet forums back in the early 90's to see what the reactions were back then, what is with our obsession with rushing players in. Occasionally one comes along that can slot straight in at a very young age (Tim Watson for example) but usually a player plays for a while in the magoos to learn their craft then breaks in, Koota played over 50 reserves games, thats 2 and a half seasons.

This kid was rookie listed. If we dont see him until 2012 I would not be surprised or upset. Thats how long it took in the past, why do we think, with the faster pace of the game that it would take less time now? If anything it should take longer as more demands are made of the player physically now not less.

Going down to Casey Fields on Sunday, and he is one i'm certainly going to keep my eye on. Saw him play a few weeks ago against Bendigo, and his second half was pretty good.

Whilst we do lack that real key forward, there is no way the club will rush young Levi. Let him develop with the Bullants, and get some games under his belt at that level before we even start thinking about him at AFL level.

only watched him once in our intra club practice match earlier this year, and its fair to say that his marking ability is quite sound. His kicking had a lot to be desired, and his chasing ability needed a lot of work. Couldn't imagine seeing him in the ones this year, will get game time in the NAB cup next year and ho know may play a few then. But as far as this year goes, from all reports needs a lot of work.

I am pretty annoyed the Bullants aren't making their way up to the GC this year, would have loved to see Levi in action first hand.

completely agree. Let him play with the Ants all year, have a solid preseason to loose the puppy fat and then see next year. Looks like he might make the grade but definately not this year

Most key forwards take a while to develop... You get the occasional ones that can make an impact from the word go (eg. J. Brown played in 3 flag sides in his first 4 seasons), but most a of the time it takes years for these monsters to be built into the tanks they become (We all know Fev became a gun goalkicker for us, but evn he had little or no impact at senior level in his first FOUR YEARS at Carlton)...
Unless it is obvious that we're pushing sh*t up a hill and wasting our time like the Bummers seem to be doing with Jay Neagle, then its best we take our time in developing Levi at this stage. Yeah, there seems to be some promise there, but its best we let him build the strength and endurane he requires at for AFL standard footy while learning his craft and building his self confidence at VFL level....

so much more goes into forward play than taking a big grab these days. By all accounts, he sounds like he'd be a liability once the ball hit's the ground
Not when you have Betts, Yarran, Garlett, Judd, Murph, Simpson and Hoops roving the pack. Same as Hendo's worth against Geelong - crash the pack to either mark or bring the ball down for the crumbers.

I was more implying the defensive side of things. Would much rather see Hendo chasing a rebounding defender, than Levi right now

People that are seriously advocating for Levi to get a senior game in 2010 need to go and watch Carlton vs Hawthorn a couple of years ago when they played Hodge on Cam Cloke.
As in the O'Keefe thread, nobody has actually suggested he should. Why is speculation on the future of our rookies treated as if we're peeking under the christmas wrapping?

You wouldn't want to think so.
A good kid and likely to come along but way too far off at this stage.
There's still plenty of puppy fat to come off his just yet, and he'll need to improve his motor, by some.
It would be funny if he got to be better than Hawkins, though.

Agree he is nowhere near ready for AFL, but strangely after watching him preseason, he is the one I am most excited about in our young key position prospects.
