I would be worried if we didn't have weaknesses at this time of the year.

Considering our injury list and our early draw, we have done an outstanding job to be 7-2.

As for "mucking around with it", its a fine line between good and bad. A couple of those handballs come off the there is no lairising. Miss a couple and players get canned.

Seriously, we are doing geat and I am sure Craig will be addressing our weaknesses as the season goes on.

As for hard balls gets, well if you take Ricciuto and Edwards out of that midfield and that statistic WILL drop off dramatically. Not to mention the absence of Hudson who led out team in hard ball gets and clearences before he did his knee.

Some execute these handballs well others (Thompson) jog slowly forward intending to draw the player but end up under pressure and handball or kick

I don't expect everyone around me to know the ins and outs of everything related to the tactical and strategic side of football - and the players and coaching staff certainly aren't infallible - but when you're 7-2 with an injury list longer than Romano Negri it'd be nice if they'd get off the players' backs, for one week at least.

Honestly - the average punter at AAMI is really starting to give me the shizens... ...I've always defended the "Nanas" and their right to sit there and fossilise.....but I'm sort of looking forward to the next generation of supporter evolving thru the system.

There was a girl in the front row of Bay 131 who stood each time we scored a goal in the first qtr to get the Ad-el-aide chant going. All most of the bay did was smirk at her rather than back her up. I found myself feeling very sorry and embarrassed for her as she was trying to rev everyone up.

I fear the average punter at AAMI really has no knowledge of real footy nor the conviction to barrack for their team...

to Just maybe (and others) the water shortage is an indication of impending drought where there wont be enough water to grow crops, let alone drink, and anyone caught washing themselves is a capital offence.

We got bagged last week for bringing issues up ''after a loss' so the right thing was done and after a good win seems to be the best time. Or do we shut up ?

Maybe you could prepare a survey that you could handout before the game to access the football knowledge of nearby supporters. If they fail, they're obviously not worthy and should be removed from your area by red coats. Force should be used where neccessary.

In all seriousness Springy, I detect some passive-aggressive sarcasm in your post - so let me reiterate, it isn't necessarily a lack of football knowledge that gets me and of course there's always a place for constructive criticism.

You're always going to have a few in the theatre who can't follow the plot, it is the fickle mentality that has permeated through my Bay (can't speak for all season ticket holders, but I sense I'm not alone) since we became a dominant side.

Rather than hearing the usual chorus bagging all and sundry at any given moment for handballing too much/going sideways/not kicking long/not manning up/what the hell did you do that for, just once I'd like to hear this gaggle congratulate a player for a good shepherd, for hitting a target, for switching play and getting things going to our advantage or for doing something positive.

Too often they are so vocal when there's an opportunity to do some bagging, but are oddly quiet when something positive occurs.

There's a bloke a few rows behind me who has it in for Scott Thompson. Loudly scoffed with the 'here we go agains' when Thomo slipped while running to pressure a player - "there was noone near him and he fell over, whinge whinge f#cking whinge" - but the same bloke was quiet as a mouse when Thomo bagged a couple of good goals later on.

It's that sort of sh#t I can't stand.

What do they go for? To actually support the side or just carpet the players they have it in for? Anyone'd think we were Essendon the way the sky is falling at times.

1. I don't believe hard ball-gets are as important when you are dominating the game. Why kill yourself in & under when the opposition keep kicking the ball back to you?

2. I was under the belief we have the highest accuracy in the AFL this year. Kicking style is irrelevant, if it doesn't affect accuracy. Do you think Trent getting a haircut may help?

3. We can't expect to dominate all 4 quarters, but to continually have 2nd quarter fadeouts is a concern.

4. I though Scott Stevens actually played OK yesterday. Given our injuries to KPP's, now is the time to play him for a bit to really find out whether he has got something. Bassett would not have been as effective yestrday if Stevens weren't playing.

5. Given all the long-term injuries, I think we are playing some players like Kenny who would not have otherwise have played. Not ideal.

No aggression, definite sarcasm though. I hear what you're saying. I have to listen to my father in law " who played over 2500 games of country footy" rant on about Scott Thompsons poor disposal every week. Funny enough, he didn't seem to mention Thompsons 7 or so 2nd half clearances and 2 goals.

While I understand your gripe, perhaps you should be more accepting and stop being so sanctimonious. Football is a game, its entertainment, and people pay good money to see it. If they want to gripe about how dead boring certain tactics are making the game and yell how they want to see it, that's their prerogative.

Sure, you may be a connoiseur of the finer points of the game, but it wouldn't be surprising if they've been going to the football longer than you, and they have a right to their opinions, even if they're 'uneducated' by your standards.

OK, we thumped Carlton. It should have been by a lot more, but within that win there were a number of problems carried over from the Richmond game that need to be addressed for when we play sides that aren't so abysmal.

1. Soundly beaten in hard-ball gets again - 41-33. For our supposed 'hard' midfield, that is a real concern. Can't afford this against top 6 sides.

2. Inaccuracy. Hentschel really needs some work on that rubbish run-up, the old goalkicking habits are creeping back in again. Again, can't afford this against top 6 sides.

3. Second quarter lapses. The biggest worry, it has been a constant pattern and it's going to trip us up badly very soon - we can get away with it against the bottom 6, but that's about it. Don't know what the hell is going on, but it's a serious, serious problem. To let Carlton kick 6 of their 9 goals in one quarter while we only kicked 3 is an indictment on the players.

4. Scott Stevens. We have been playing poor sides, so he doesn't have to be exposed so much, but while he provides some reasonable run when in space, he is as weak as a stick and has been muscled out by every opponent he has played on. This is not acceptable, even Torney would be a better bet as a tall defender. Craig's faith in him is, IMHO, misplaced. He has shown nothing with the defensive side of his game.

5. Roo and McGregor carrying injuries (?)...they've been out of it against some average players...a real worry

6. Lairising. A few players seem to take these games at the moment as a bit of a lark. Time Craig gives them a stern warning and maybe one or two are given a benching or a drop to the SANFL for a week.

Thoughts?

I want this team to win the premiership this year, but there's areas to be addressed.

1. Dont agree we are a pretty hard and tough team and other teams fear this, I think its more important the areas of the ground where we are laying the tackles Forward 50 and Defensive 50.

2. Wrong Adelaide are in fact the most accurate kicking side so far in 2006.

3. Agree that is a huge worry.

4. Hard to answer he wont be dropped on his performance on the w/end, I do agree that he is a 'stop gap' measure until Torney, Hart and Bock are back in the side so by Finals time he wont be there, unless he is used up forward, which I doubt one Perrie and Welsh come back.

5. Agree once more, need to find out what is going on.

6. Also agree lets stick to playing football and forget the other rubbish on the feild, Thompson and Burton have been the biggest offenders of this.

Exactly right, for 41,000 there on Saturday there might aswell have been 300, deadset shocking no putting fear into the opposition, no enthusiasum when we score a goal just nothing, Craig has done things to try and get the club more in touch with the fans i.e players going over to the crowd after a win and getting a supporter into the rooms after a win to sing the song, but still we have all these jockstraps sitting there listening to there radios, if you dont understand WTF is going on in front of you and need a radio to understand then stay home And leave the knitting yarn at home also

If you don’t like the direction or philosophies the AFL are trying to implement then don’t go, vote with your feet and hand back your membership or match day ticket.

They only way you as an individual can tell the AFL you are not happy with how they are transforming the game from pervious time to modern times is by not turning up. It’s that simply, as long as you are voting with your wallets and feet in the direction the club (or AFL) then they will have no reason to change there outlooks on how the game is being perceived by the general public.

The bottom line will always be judged by how many tickets are sold and how many viewers are turning into watch a game.

If you are not happy with how the games are altered, then don’t go.

DT, sounds like a bloke near where we sit. Spends almost the entire match criticising the team regardless of the score. He even was whingeing in the final quarter of the Showdown and the match against the Bulldogs - with those ridiculous cries of "man up" and sh.t like that.

I don't really care if people don't feel comfortable screaming their support or participating in chants. But I hate it when the only words you hear from them are ones of criticism.

34 guys within 50 meters of goal is not football. 150 uncontested marks is not football. 200 uncontested possesions is not football. Kicking the ball backwards from 1/2 forward to chb is not football. Tapping the ball around at 1/2 back for minutes at a time is not football.

As to your bottom line, my understanding is that both attendences & ratings are down.

I think your problem is that the official AFC fan club is small and quiet

all the other supporters are spread out over the ground, Maybe someone should contact the club and ask to setup a "true supporters" bay in both the outer and the members (the members would be great) people in these bays can be then band together to make a shag load of noise. AFC are trying new things maybe they will listen this time

but heck these threads pop up every few month and get put in the too had basket
