Havnt heard a thing about him this pre season is he injured or are they keeping him quiet will he play any of the practice matches

Does anybody know how he is going any news would be great

Cam is playing tomorrow in albany, missed dubai as he was one of the most affected by gastro.

Should play most games from here on into the season proper

Looking forward to seeing the big guy in action.
He will become our number 1 ruckman to release josh around the ground.
At least wood comes to us as a true ruckman whereby josh is more a huge ruck rover, much more damaging around the ground.
Woody is touted to become a bullocking ruckman once he fills out a little, similar in size and action to Jamie Charman.Fan bloody tastic !
Go Pies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit I'm still a bit suspicious - if the Banes thought he was going to be very good I doubt they would have let him go just for pick 14 which they traded for a recycled mid. I hope he turns out great but just not holding my breath. If he does it will be a bargain.

Don't know wheather the game will on TV ?
Becausae we are out of the nab cup i think foxtel and free to air (channel 7,10) will only show the nab cup games from all the winners of last week's competition.
I reckon check news headlines tommorow night, they may show highlights.

Will the game be on TV?
Not on TV but nicks BB will be getting the scores so qtr timne half time and 3/4 time i will be able to post them here if i am at home

We'll never really know what Brisbanes thinking was.

Let's just hope that Wood did say to them that he wanted to be traded and Brisbane thought they could lose him for nothing in the PSD of 2008 as he still had a year to run on his contract or they were looking out for the players interest and giving him an opportunity elsewhere. Seems a little strange the Lions assisting us though.

He was definitely not in their best 22 as they have Charman and Leuenberger who is going to be a gun and McDonald was also a back up. If the Lions new Beau McDonald would snatch it, I don't think they would have traded Wood.

Where have you read this?

to me he seems like another stick type ruckman, who will end up being a slight type build.

Best comparison i could think of would be to D.Hale from the Kangas....he is a skinny but highly rated young ruck, but the bigger bodied McIntosh has flown past him now.

Hope Wood can fill out, but dont see it to be honest.

Fraser still will be our number 1 ruck in 08

I see Wood as the Matthew Clarke type build at best.

Have heard from certain sources at the pies, but it will take woody 2 seasons to settle in ,build his upper body get use to playing in tanderm with Josh and then take the number one mantle.
Certain people have told me that,at the moment he is an excellent tap ruckman, and in some instances has a huge impact around the ground but in other instances he goes missing around the ground.
Remember he is still a kid at 20,he hasn't played alot of senior footy, but once he settles, builds the upper body,he'll be similar to Charman in style once woody matures. In the meantime,he will play second fiddle to josh till he matures and gains valuable experience.
A strong bodied ruckman like future woody and an experienced ruckrover like josh will run rings around the opposition teams. Can't wait.
At the moment the kid got a severe dose of gastro in South Africa, taht's why he didn't play in Dubai, but will debut in Albany.

I think Brisbane recruit on the 'best available' principle, rather than needs based, particularly in the early rounds of the draft, so when Leuenberger was still available at pick 4 when he ws widely tipped to be the no 1 pick in that draft, Brisbane snaffled him.

He must have overtook Wood as a young, developing ruckman and they had no need for that many ruckman but Wood isn't their version of Chris Bryan, he is very talented and would never have been let go if Leuenberger weren't there, and Leuenberger has huge wraps on him and Wood is highly touted as well just Brisbane had an embarassment of riches in that department so played on it and picked up Travis Johnstone instead to help the midfield.

They didn't trade Wood because he was crap, it's because he was good in a position they had well covered but other clubs like us had deficiencies so were willing to pay a high price, ie. our first round draft pick.

I think time will tell we couldn't have done much better than Wood with pick 14 in that draft anyway, Wood is very talented, he can ruck but he can also play football which will be a welcome change for us.

Pretty bad luck to get gastro twice in a couple of months. Didn't he have a bout of it at the start of pre season?

Well I see it like this, Leigh Matthews is obviously on his last legs. Rather than build for the future and help the next coach out by keeping a talented ruckman or pick up a 15 year player (Jack Grimes) with pick 14, he instead gets a 28 year old overrated show pony to give him a slim chance of seeing september action before shifting into the retirement home. Good on us for capitalising on some good old Matthews self-preservation. I'm just pleased we have a coach who's doing the opposite :)

hes already put on 7 kgs in one pre-season from 98 to 105 lets hope he can handle the xtra weight ,but at 20 still very young for a ruckman.

I'm not sure that's correct, I believe he was 105 and unfit when he came to us , struggled on the track initially and has been trying to lose the weight over the last few months. Someone can clarify this.

First off very happy to get Cam if only for fact it shows it shows intent from the club to focus more on ruck. To be very very clear though he is 20 years old - 20 years old - anything we get from a 20 year old ruckman is a bonus (did i mention he is 20?). Dont even put him in your "teams" yet. I actually think he will play a lot of games this year but this is based on gut feeling the same as anyone else who says this is based on gut feeling because there is so little evidence. Best of luck Cam but 2008 is a bonus i'll judge you on next 2-3 years.
