A dear Facebook friend of mine and Dr Who icon from the 80's, Nabil Shaban, very sadly passed away a few days ago (he was very ill for some time)





Nabs was a larger than life figure (whom from all reports shouldn't have survived being born but was a true fighter)

I don’t really wish to post on this board much anymore, but i just couldn't let Nabil's death go without mentioning him and his legacy, Nabs was physically very small in stature, but metaphorically a Titan of a human being.

He rose above all the massive adversity and painful setbacks life gave him, and flourished

I still cannot believe he is gone tbh

Nabs was one of those very rare people who squeezed every drop of his talented blood (and more) to become someone who became more successful than they had any damn right to be

His life should be remembered and celebrated

I have had a remarkable run in the past two or three months with my list (Henri Szeps, Col Joye, Patricia Routledge, Samantha Eggar and now Prunella Scales), after having only one correct guess - Gene Hackman - up until the start of August.

In football terms I'm not going to win the flag or even make the finals, but I'm like one of those teams that goes into the last two months of the season in third last 4-10 win/loss record and one of the contenders for the wooden spoon, then goes 6-2 for the last eight rounds to be mid-ladder 10-12 and missing the finals by one and a half games at season's end.

• On September 9, 2024, he underwent emergency heart surgery at Bellevue and was said to be in critical condition for a time afterward.
• In October 2024, it was reported that he had been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia.
• On December 2, 2024, it was reported that Weinstein was hospitalized in Manhattan due to blood test results that were described as "alarming".
