New Grand Magus is decent. Got that new Motorhead live album today. The new Rage is also at JB but the $30 digi version. If it was the $20 jewel case I would have bought it. Back in Japan in a week - will go crazy at Disk Union at Shibuya and Shinjuku. Anyone who has been there will know. Great store.

Rage? Still? Peavey would be the only original member? I've got "Secrets in a Weird World" - some good songs eg Light into my Darkness, Invisible Horizons. Damn it I'm gonna dig it out when we move and I unpack all my stuff.

Japan - pleasure/business? If I recall your better half comes from there?

Invisible Horizons is everyone's favourite. Japan is holiday including visiting inlaws etc. Looking forward to getting away from this shitty weather, drinking a beer and eating well.

Dan's are doing great deals on the 500ml cans of Asahi this month (the proper imported ones), 6 for $16, stocked up today for the weekend. If I was going there I'd grab Sake if it's cheap there, it's expensive here, good fun to down on the odd occasion!

Big taste difference with the Asahi eh? Sake range in stores is crazy, but I generally buy whisky to bring back.

The covers are sometimes funny to come across, heard Children of Bodom cover a Poison song the other day, wasn't as bad as CBs effort.
The anaal nathrakh cover of powerslave is fantastic.

Re: chris barnes, i have no idea how/why he is still even a thing these days. Seriously, who would pay money to see/hear 6ft under? Why?

Not sure but I've noticed a massive difference with other imports made in countries other than their origin so I try to steer clear. I think the stubbies are made in China.

Usually we get the Chinese one. Used to get the Thai one. Sometimes get the UK one.

I like cans too.

Back onto beer...noticed it with Heineken I think it was. Bought a slab once and it was made in NSW or maybe NZ....the worst part of it is that the bottle shop charges you the same price for the locally produced stuff as it does the fully imported ones from the Netherlands. What a rort. So always check the slab for the IMPORTED stamp/sticker before you buy.

Yes. Never really known why Consumer Affairs doesn't crack down on it. It is an open and shut case IMO and an easy target (i.e. Dans, Lion or CUB) with $ to pay a fine.

Don't mind them.

There technically allowed to brew anywhere n claim its same coz it's the same yeast. It comes out different because of the water they use, different minerals react differently with the ingredients. Probably why beer from tassie is good.

Tassie beer is good and an afternoon at the Cascade brewery is fantastic. I worked for Boags for a while before CUB bought them.

Tiger breweries is located in Tuas, Singapore just near to our SEA HQ, so we often have 'team building' activities there (under the official guise of researching competitive 'manufacturing strategies' of course).

Good stuff man. Boags Premium Larger is a favourite, didn't know it was a CUB brand these days, makes Crown Larger taste like shit. I heard the brewery trips in Tassie are good to go on.

How many slabs can you snipe every month?

Was bought by CUB Special Breweries if I recall correctly. I left years ago. I remember the owner's Exec Admin (she'd been with him for 20+ years) was organising her sons 21st and the owner made her pay for the beers. She had to order them from a rep. Such a tight ass. Guess that's why he was worth squillions.

One of those tight ass companies when it comes to product. I remember hearing how CUB dropped off a heap of slabs off to the Lions hours after one of their premiership wins, sounded like a first, abit weird seeing as they were our main sponsor back then. Martin Pike wasn't complaining that weekend at least

I think it's owned by Lion Nathan nowadays...not CUB
I remember when they gave a heap of people the ass, changed the VB recipie, etc. Just had a look, owned by SAB Miller in England now.

I'm a larger man myself, don't mind throwing in the odd ale in between, Gippsland Gold, Vale Ale & Cavalier. The later's brewed by a bloke from the area, there in Dan's now, grab a box off him here n there at mates rates. Top drop, with a meal, a few here n there, not a session beer though.

MB tins are the go

New Skeletonwitch. It's long and it's... flat. I can still get into it but the typical 'witch punch is lacking. For how monotonous the track is it's hard to justify the length.

Well of Despair was much more 'Skeletonwitch' for mine. I'm still looking forward to the EP from my faves from Ohio, though...

Hell yeah, their formula of ballistic incomprehensible verses into clean, huge choruses works well with the song writing of Maiden. Powerslave would just about be my favourite Maiden track too. Delicious bass!
