For the BigFooty AFL Player Of The Year award, a voting system that will be introduced is that 5 members from each team, plus 1 emergency will be chosen to hand out votes in your clubs matches, according to the whole match, and not just your club's votes.

We need people who are willing to put their time and effort in once a week, and are active enough to meet a submission deadline (see thread in AFL Board).

This thread is for your board to decide which (6) members will represent your team.

The reason why voters are limited is due to an organised approach during the season. It is for BigFooty, therefore, it doesn't however, allow everyone to vote, so this proposal on your club board is for you to choose your representative's.

Just post in this thread, or the thread, that can be found in the AFL Board.

Stkildonan and I were going to run the same competition that we've had for the past couple of seasons where all of our supporters get to vote. Some weeks we struggled for numbers but at the same time it was good system because it allowed all of our supporters to have a say.

I'll put my name down in any case. It seems like a well thought out idea.

If any Saints fans out there would prefer that we use a different system send me a PM and we'll work something out. If I don't hear from anyone we'll take it that everyone is happy for us to have 6 representatives.

This however is nothing like a team MVP. You don't vote 5 of the best Saints in the match, you just hand out votes for the match, including players from the opposition if they had players who performed. Like the Brownlow (except 5-4-3-2-1). The only reason I am going through EACH club is that I want 5-6 members to hand out votes in the matches each week. It helps control bias views (as a total of 10 voters each match get counted, 5 from each club).

Continue to run the Club MVP, It is a completely different thing! Most boards have them, I run the Collingwood one, I just thought, it would be great to have an AFL Award, and get members from each team vote, BUT...Have an approach as to designated voters, SO IT IS CONSISTENT. The last 2 years, AFL MVP where everyone can vote have gone down the drain after 3 weeks. This approach however is pro-active, and is organised and professional.

I will count you in. JeffDunne has also agreed.

Thanks for the reply.

It sounds like a good concept.

Assuming we have more than 6 on the shortlist, and that may happen as there are quite a few good posters yet to register, did you want each club to select who the 6 will be or is it just a case of first in best dressed?

I applaud this approach, Lonie_from_50, and feel that this is a great format for achieving a degree of impartiality and accuracy.

I see that you have shortlisted at least one other Saint supporter, and I don't want to take anyones place from them. What I offer is that I will be here every week anyway (Mod's duties) and I will never miss a Saints game. I propose that I be made a reserve to vote in the absence of any of the Saints voters if they are unable to vote for some reason. Is that acceptable?

:D

Good stuff Falchoon. Some of those old threads make me cringe though.

I was correct with Lenny Hayes needing to kick more goals but that was counteracted by my Troy Schwarze comments.

I'll be sure to let Savatage know about his Chris Oliver prediction. ;)

Lonie, Falchoon and StKildonan have been the driving forces behind the St Kilda Bigfooty voting for a few years now but there's 7 nominees so the decision is yours.

Whatever you decide is fine, and if any Saints supporter misses out StKildonan and I will definitely have a StKilda best and fairest thread running for all St Kilda supporters to vote in.

What I like is, the more familiar faces, the better. kosi has limited posts here, so unfortunately, he won't get a nod. Not the only one, it has happened to plenty others kosi, so don't feel like it is just you.

StKildonan and Falchoon are the last needed.
