So the off season saw a seismic shift in the NBA tectonic plates. Moving to the pacific rim, Lebron up and left dreary Ohio for the glitz and glamour of L.A. PG13 decided that OKC is safer than LaLa land and stayed. No doubt he was influenced by the departure of No bench Melo who finds himself in Houston where the only D you need to bring is between your legs now that T Ariza has become a Sun much to the delight of Look2Me4Guidance . But eyebrows were raised when the GS Warriors announced the signing of former Cali mainstay Boogie Cousins. This news was met with collective fists on desks declaring it grossly unfair. 5 all stars in the starting lineup. You have to go back to the young Lakers of Shaq, Eddie Jones, Kobe and Nick Van Exel to find a more dominant All Star weekend squad. Oh and Utah drafted a white guy.

Out east everyone breathed a sign of relief when Lebron left. Cavs fans everywhere declared him a LeBUM and new jerseys were burned again. Kahwai checked his quad at the Canadian border and was granted asylum from the tyrannous Trump dictatorship. And how about what's going down in the nations capital? Austin "Im not a daddys boy" Rivers was cut but daddy and is not a wizard. Joining him is joker D Howard. Thisgunbgud.gif. Boston just keep chugging along. With young talent including marcus smart and future hall of famer Jason Tatum. Throw into the mix Aussie Kyrie, a fit Gordy Hayward, scary Terry and the ghost of Lebron, you have your eastern conference champions.

Off court, nufan regaled us with his tinder exploits. Early on he battled through a crushed pen0r grimacing like chris judd but powered on to last weekends activities. Not to dissimilar to this feeling one imagines

Just over a week till we have tip off. Who you got for the title? Will Boogie realise his life long dream? Lonzos sophomore year, how will it pan out? Finally, who will challenge the Cs for the Eastern crown?

The season proper begins on 18th October 2018. However, to wet your appetite, the NBA has kindly arranged some pre season games. Here's the schedule for the month of September

Screen Shot 2018-09-25 at 2.36.27 pm.png

As you can see reigning NBL Champions featuring resident thug Chris Goulding (former Summer league Cavalier and Maverick) visit the PhAussiedelphia 76ers to open the pre season. Not to be outdone, the Americans have invited the Beijing (formerly Peking) Ducks to play against Dallas. Beijing is best known for housing forces in Steph Marbury and Steve Francis. But the torch was handed to Sun Yue, formerly of the Lakers and countless tasteless memes concerning Yue Love Gay Mayo.

Perf Wildcats are playing against Utah, and shitney kings are playing the Cliplols

They've really gotta get Thibs outta there before they do this deal, otherwise it's just going to end up being some self preservation trade to keep them hovering around the 8 seed so he can keep a job and really ruin any potential ceiling... Which he's already been well on the way to doing as it is.

Dirk Nowitzki is likely to play a reserve role for the Dallas Mavericks this season.

The Mavericks signed DeAndre Jordan in free agency to play center, which has been Nowitzki's primary position over the past two seasons. Dallas is also expected to start Luka Doncic at power forward.

Luka at the 4? Um ok.

Last season: 43-39.

Operating at 52.4%, good enough to secure 8th in the East, where they were summarily bounced by Canadas team. Once again the club was lead by the dynamic Wall-Beal backcourt averaging a combined 40 PPG. Otto did his thing with exceptional FG% as their third scorer. Kelly Oubre established himself as the man who most Bigfooty posters wanted to punch during the season with his faux tough routine. Some thing JOhn Wall feels the same

Gortat provided a big body inside, but he suffered his 4th worst PPG since his arrival in the United States league some 10 years ago.

Looking at the rest of the squad last season I find myself falling asleep.

Arrivals:
The Weeknd has bloody short arms

Austin Rivers
Uh, are you my daddy?

day to day - neck spasms as a result for turning his head side to side looking for daddy.

Thomas Bryant

Jeff Green
The former Cav and Celtic provides presence down low that Kelly and Otto don't bring in spades. As a celtic, this board lit up with a christmas tree with some proclaiming him to be the missing piece. As a cav, well that was fun.

Departures:

Gortat. His size and D will be missed.
Tim Frazier. The Wizards finally realised he aint Walt.
Ty Lawson - if the NBA was about DUI he'd be MVP
Bunch of other scrubs

Prediction: who the hell knows. They're always there or there abouts. 8th seems about right.

John Wall with the D Wade jaw, and the ball boy gatecrashing.

Happy to do a Pistons preview over the coming days.

My favourite part of media day was that Drummond plans on shootint 2-3 3pters a game.

Last season: 21 - 61.

What’s new?
A new coach (6th since 2013), Igor Kokoskov
DeAndre Ayton
Trevor Ariza
Ryan Anderson
Mikal Bridges
Elie Okobo
Richaun Holmes
DeAnthony Melton (home of Tabcorp Park)

Toot a loo, goodbye to you:
Brandon Knight
Jared Dudley
Marquese Chriss
Ryan McDonagh
Plethora of other dudes you wouldn’t know.

In a very Phoenix way of doing things, the Suns won the draft lottery for the first time in their history and wasted little energy in taking DeAndre Ayton. Only 3 games into the pre-season I think he is the best centre I have ever seen in a Suns uniform during my time of watching them. Over the top? Quite possibly. However this kid has got the goods and will be worth watching this season.

Unfortunately the PG position in the Valley is at its worst that it has been in the 25 years I have watched the Suns. A group of players including Canaan, Harrison, Melton and Okobo have all seen time at PG during the pre-season and it has looked awful. Coach Igor has a very motion orientated offence, so whilst not reliant on a savvy point guard, having one to initiate the offence is a priority. This point is rumoured to be a strong reason as to why GM Ryan McDonagh was relieved of his duties.

Despite this, the duo of Ayton and Booker will provide a lot of excitement for Suns fans this season. The spacing they will provide one another will be a great benefit to both and with range shooters in Ariza and Anderson on the floor, things should improve a bit offensively. Josh Jackson is improving but has too many 3/12 nights to consider him a key piece of things at this stage. He is a good playmaker, but the glut of wings in Phoenix means playing time will be shuffled a fair bit.

So will the Suns make the playoffs? No.

Will Ayton win ROY? Will give it a hell of a shake.

What you will see: Greater assist numbers under Igor’s system

What you won’t see: Robert Sarver letting people do their jobs

Prediction: 30 wins and Booker to average 27/6/5 and be in All Star discussion.
