Some young lads just get sucked in by the $$ and lose the drive.

What would Ogilvie have to do to deserve criticism in your book? Murder somebody?

I think it was Mutineer that first mentioned that Ogilvie's pick would have been English but his talent order was overruled and he had to select the best available player with speed. So it wasn't that he was told to select Gallucci as such, he was required to eliminate players without speed and his talent order had Gooch as next best that met the criteria. I don't take anywhere near enough interest in drafts to know if there were any pacey successes selected after Gooch.

Its the offseason. Yes Bigman's training updates are amazing and thats why they are thread marked. So anyone can read them without cycling through the conversations that arise from them.

That sounds reasonable and logical and in truth is the way clubs should be run.

We were percentage off of the top 4 at the end of 2016. We had correctly identified our premiership window was opening in 2017. We had a ruckman in his prime who went on to be an All Australian in 2017 and already had his heir on the list with a couple of preseasons to know he would be decent.

Taking English would have been stupid with the first round capital when our ruck position was so secure.

Yet you ask any recruiter and they always say with your 1st pick you take the best player available regardless and that was where our recruiting team had Tim English. It was also thought at the time with English's obvious skill set (kicking and overhead marking) he could also possibly play KPP. Pick 15 is hardly a high end pick as well.
