Billy Brownless

Doug Hawkins had a similar effect on me In the end they just wear you down with there sickly likability and stupidity.

Strangely enough its a recipe (ratings thing) that the likes of nine and seven have fostered over the years

Does anyone else find Billy annoying? Being so one eyed and using the word 'frothies' is getting a bit old.

He has done for years. I'm sure he's a good bloke, but he just sits there with his impish grin and grade 3 humour, giving us absolutely nothing. It's hard to take the media seriously when Bill can hold down a job.

Yep, cant watch/listen to him. I find him annoying, one eyed, and just Brainless during serious discussion. Footy show was better without him on every week.

He must wake up every day just laughing at how he has held down these jobs.

One of life's great mysteries is how he has managed to hold on to media jobs for over a decade.

Even a greater mystery is that SEN have employed him as a 'special comments' man.

Meh, he's alright.

He has a job because he was a great footballer whos personality appeals directly to the general demographic who watch/enjoy football. Basically, he just lives off the fact he could play back in the day, and he loves a beer.

good when not talking about geelong.

conflict of interest when asked about geelong/s johnson and his injury? that's the problem when people media have roles at clubs. then they (same person) gets annoyed when someone else in footy doesnt give straight answers.

when asked who would be dropped for geelongs returning players from injury he cant answer cause he's mates with them all

Love him and wished he barracked for us.

Great ambassodor of the game, much loved by all and if you ever meet him in person you will know why.

Don't like him, but that's something which goes back to the '94 finals.

You remember the one "Billy, you are king of Geelong...woohoo the monkey's off the back, Billy..." It still gives me the shakes.

Does anyone know why the monkey was on his back anyway?

Can be funny but can also be annoying as well.

"Where's the wheel, where's the wheel?!?"

He is completely one eyed but he has never tried to hide it. At least he is jovial about it and not spitting hostility like far too many other biased media personalities.

He has spent years and years being a bloke's bloke for the benefit of his immediate peers who retreat to their mansions and carefully hang up their suits.

No matter how much you may hate Geelong right now Billy is a good person.

Eh, I like him, even though his gags are for primary school kids, but yeah, his 'one-eyedness' can get annoying, and it's not just about Geelong; it extends to anyone associated with ch9, C.U.B., Ford, and anyone who's ever bought at least one pot at his pub :)

interesting. if geelong ever change to say mazda (wont happen but for arguments sake) he'd be all about mazda then.

he is very open about it, and good point about him being jovial about it. however, as i said earlier when it comes to say johnsons injury he'll be as tight lipped as say bomber thompson would be....yet would expect others (say brayshaw) to be totally open and transparent.

as for being a good bloke, i agree with you there, i reckon he's one of the most popular personalities around.

whenever someone uses the "he's a good bloke" argument it doesnt hold much water. i remember the days when frawley was coaching the tiges. he'd be asked about certain players etc and he'd start with "X is a great bloke, has a terrific family etc". dressing it up.

I'm biased here, but I don't mind the bloke. I like that he wears his hearts on his sleeves. Most media personalities are invested in one club or another, and I'm more annoyed when they pretend to be neutral with their analysis when it's obvious their bias is showing through. He's so involved with the club and does everything he can to help out. Truly passionate man. :thumbsu:

His over the top persona gets a bit old, but there are much worse personalities in the media.

Disagree - I met him at the last fashion parade that was held by the Ladies groups at both Hawthorn & Geelong. Crawf was sitting at our table, and introduced us to him - he completely ignored us. Rude, arrogant knob!

I'd have loved to have been sitting near him at last year's GF, just so that I could have given him absolute shite over the way his beloved team lost the unloseable match.

:thumbsd: dead set cheat to bias towards cats blatantly refused to give votes on sunday footy show to dane swan so g ablett could win lou richards medal wonder if he is on a commission should not be able to give votes if he cannot take his cats hat off

Listen to the dills.

Done nothing themselves but knock someone who has. Just shows the mentality of people. Tall poppy syndrome gone mad. Achieve something yourselves you useless tools before knocking others.

One of the most likeable on TV.

Has the low brow humour that appeals to mental short people such as JubJub & Wayne from Geelong. You watch how people of limited education on the various footy shows contiunally take the piss out of him by asking him about the fitness of Steve Johnson.

Same Newman treats him with contempt (as it should be).
