I looked at the leagues 'new' website when I got to the office this morning. All I can say is "wow, what a come-down". That lost password has really impacted on the league. Its such a shame.

I had a look at the new website and thought it was OK. It was good to see some match reports from the weekend and it probably explains why little time has been spent on the 'old' website recently.

I guess it wouldn’t matter what the league does, people will whinge and complain about it, so like the old saying goes, they are stuffed if they do and stuffed it they dont.

How about we all just stop sooking about the league and just worry about playing football. If we all have so much spare time that we can critique every move and decision the league makes, then maybe we should step up and start trying to fix the problems, rather than just firing pot shots from a faceless forum.

Im with Waugh17. Think the new website is OK. At least there was news on it today which is a positive and with the Sportingpulse site, should be fairly easy to navigate and able to be updated. At least they have identified it as something that needed to be fixed so well done to the league for doing something about it!

Heard in the last two weeks (on Monday mornings) on nxfm a quick wrap up of the weekends results, wondering if it's been an initiative of the board that runs our comp or just an interested news reader?

Initiative of the board I heard on the weekend, they met with KOFM (NXFM's big brother) in an attempt to get some coverage in the newcastle area because the 3 radio stations they already do interviews on Saturday mornings are all on the Central Coast.:thumbsu:

I haven't personally heard it myself but certainly a positive. The league gets good radio coverage with live interviews on 94.1, 96.3 and 104.5 each Saturday morning on the Central Coast.

Anyone know how the grand finals will work this year with times? With 4 games to get through in the 1 day, will they push 1st grade back to a twilight game? Surely they can't start the 18s earlier than 9:30.

Surely you dont think anyone is smart enough to think of that do you?

Tips for this weekend in the newly named AFL Hunter Coast competition

City over Killarney Vale by 8 goals- City a 5 goal better side at no 1 and M. Clarke a huge out now for Killarney. Lost alot of stability down back

Cardiff over Terrigal by 3 goals- Think Cardiffs 15-22nd player are better than Terrigals. The top players in these games generally cancel each other out so the bottom 8 is where it tends to be won and lost

Warners Bay over Lake Macquarie by 3 goals- Once again will go with the theory on bottom 8 players and the Dogs have the edge there I think.

Have they cut the rep squad back any or is it still at the 40-odd originally named? Saw a couple of blokes play in the NEAFL inter-conference game last week who will possibly line up for the Riverina next week. Will be a good test to see where the region is at.

Good to see the Doggies looking like stepping up a notch after better performances against City/Cardiff and a solid win against the Dockers on the weekend.(a few star cameos didnt hurt,I wonder if they will be available against any other opposition tho?) not having a crack, and dont know their weekend ie work/familly etc but they need all the 'ins' they can get against the rest of the comp(not the Dockers!)

A couple of former Wyong players doing ok with their new clubs(Spinksy,Dawe etc) looking at the recent Wyong results they would be handy ins!! lol (Singleton as well)

Are Cardiff now booted from 18's as they forfeited again? by the looks of the results

City are just smashing thru all comers at the moment(KV appear to have dropped off the pace) Cardiff treading water neither here nor there, and Terrigal still doing well

In 1st div we nearly had the unthinkable happen with Singleton(who had a % of 600) almost losing their 1st game!! Did they take it too easy or have the Bay finally stepped up?
Cardiff and City look to be on the improve and Wyong will want to start winning soon or finals may be a dream.
Terrigal are battling on well and against 'senior' teams and the Cardiff/City monster clubs are doing very well

2nd div as it prob should be appears very up and down(with player availability playing its part) with teams looking like world beaters one week to pretty average the next, but it plays its role in giving new ppl/teams a chance to play and thoseb who havent still got it a run most weeks(including injured players)

Still think Maitland have the most improvement to go(and no senior team injuries should help) but it is anyones comp

How is the rep side looking this week?

Well done to Isaac Heeney, Vahid Roser and Josh Barty on their selection in the RAMS 16s squad. Barty is now Pennant Hills but ex-Gosford. Great size and toured South Africa with the All-Australian Schoolboys side in January. Real good talent. The 16s play at Blacktown during the second week of the holidays. If you want to go and watch some talented junior footballers you wont get a better opportunity!

heeney and roser are good ... very good at bdafl senior level ... barty has some discipline issues judging by some recent games i have seen in sydney

I believe the rep squad will be soundly defeated tomorrow. The Riverina are traditionally such a strong area. As an aside, why are there more Warners Bay and Lake Macquarie players than Cardiff players in the squad?

Selectors have picked a fairly young side.
Maybe the same as the 23's rep game at the start of the year, no real interest from Cardiff.

no real interest from Cardiff.
I never realised you were a player or official from Cardiff, Swans 12??? I find it appaling, that someone from another club, comes on this site, devoid of facts, and takes serious pot shots, without a shred of evidence to back it up. You know, Swans 12, that I know who you are, and I know that you are very close to a number of board members. I will save you the embarassment of naming you at this point in time however.

For the record, the Cardiff AFC have been struggling for numbers this season, especially in recent weeks, due to work committments and injuries. So much so, that only a few weeks ago, the club nearly forefited reserve grade against Nelson Bay. Even though nearly 70 players have played open age football this season, we have regularly had occurances of over 22 players unavailable.

It was a great achievement to have 10 players selected in the representative squad. Of those 10 players, only 1 was selected, which, admittedly, is not a good look for one of the so called "bigger" clubs in the league. For the record, tof those who were not selected:
1 Player (Mick Ryan) has not played since the announcement through injury.
2 Players (Jacob Dawes and Adam Pershall) have missed a significant number of games through injury. Further to this, Jacob Works on Wednesday nights, which was communicated to the board.
1 Player (Beau Heeney) was cleared to play in another league. He was recently cleared back after the final team was selected.
5 Players (Tristan Mcormack, Simon O'Brien, Tim Sheldon, Andrew Risby & Liam Gibsion) have not trained for the club throughout the rep process through injuries they are carrying. The only reason they have played for the club, is the fact that we were so short of players. They have been managing their injuries in consultation with medical professionals. In addition to this, a number of these players have irregular work hours, and manage their club training around these committments at the best of times (i.e. they often don't train twice a week anyway).Again, this was communicated to the board. It's also worth noting that Andrew Risby was dropped to reserve grade last week.

To Say there was no interest from the club is at best, shit stirring, and at worst, slander against the players involved. I understained Swans12's mates on the board are threatening to suspend these players AND the cardiff coach over this.

If this is the case, I would suggest the Rep team manager remember the conversation he had with me when I was the U/18 Rep coach in 2006, when he removed his son from the team on the evening before the match, citing injury. The league played on the Monday of the long weekend. His son had made a miraculous recovery. Funny That. People in glass houses...

Sincerely,
Michael Gray

Just an observation mate
We have both been around the region long enough to know that many dont rate representing our league very highly
The facts are the Cardiff club has offered little to the two rep fixtures this year.
And for the record I hold no position with any senior club and state my observations without any club ties

People dont rate playing for the region because the majority of blokes want to have a kick with their mates and couldnt give a stuff about going on to play against the Riverina on a long weekend when they could either a) be with their family, b) work and earn dollars c) get on the drink and have a crack at the Stradbroke. It is the mentality of the majority of players in the league and like it or lump it that is just how it is.

People need to understand that the majority of blokes only want to play club footy. If they wanted to play higher levels they would go elsewhere and do it every week. With the talent programs in place now, the majority of kids have been through this process and have no interest in playing rep footy because they have been through higher level stuff and not made it. Now they just want to have a kick. Dont threaten blokes with suspension because they dont want to play! If they think back far enough Cardiff basically fielded the whole Hunter side when it was in the SFL so nobody should be questioning what Cardiff do, or have done for rep footy in the region because they have been one club who have supported rep footy to the hilt.

I have been on the record before as saying rep footy at senior regional level is a waste of resources, money and time. State footy is different, and I saw how that worked at senior level closely this year. If it was a league where everyone is getting paid go for it, but when most blokes are just in it for a kick and a beer, I think the board needs to recognise that not all players, despite how talented they may be, want to play rep footy so just pick blokes who want to play and dont penalise the ones who dont in an amateur league.
