Sorry if this has already been done.
Curious about this kid.
Do you Carlton guys see Luke Blackwell as a permanent player in the near future for the BLUES.
Is he in your opinion going to make it?

IMO he will make it and be a very good player

he can find the ball
he puts his head over the ball
has good awareness
has clean hands and is good in traffic

still needs a couple more pre-seasons so he can put some size on and he can get some more K in his legs

he will keep improving and be a vital cog in out midfield for years to come.

he also hase a very good attitude and work ethic.

Yes, he will definitely make it.

Made his debut earlier on in the year and has showed us much promise. Has been a bit quieter lately, coinciding with Pagan's refusal to pla him on the ground for any long period of time.

Doesn't have great pace (but cetrtainly isn't slow), has good skills and is an absolute ball magnet. Although he is very slight, he isn't afraid of putting his body on the line and getting the hard ball.

Also, it's interesting to see that he is sometimes in the media. Good to see some kids get some exposure and attention.

Hads shown enough for me to be confident that he will make it in the AFL and be a more than handy player.

He'll be very very good. I remember his game V Brisbane - a very classy display. I think Murph's arrival really motivated him a bit - there's a bit of competition between the 2. I'm also surprised at his leg speed - was a weakness, but has improved enormously in that area. Looking forward to Murph, Blackwell, Simpson and Gibbs in the middle next year. :)

I have been impressed with Blackwell

Looking foward to 2007 with him

But i do think he struggling at present like most young players in their first couple of seasons, looks worn out and tired

Good players demand to be played by racking up quality possessions.
Yes he will make it and has a future, but no more veiled comments re Pagan - same goes for smith - If you get 5 minutes - have an impact, you are on the fringe, you need to show people with EVERY chance you get that you are worth keeping. Chambers didn't lean this lesson at his second club and will be delisted.

when the midfield si established, he will end up nudging bentick out of the side, as he will be the tough in an under. Along with this toughness he posesses good skills and knows where to run...I rate him, as a consistent player for the future

Wish he would get more game time. He played a blinder against Brisbane and ever since that game he has been on the pine mostly.

Play him for 100 minutes.

Along with Setanta and Waite a great post draft penalties bonus. These 3 I feel will prove to be all equivalent to top 20 picks. Carrazzo and Betts also looking to be good pick ups as is Simmo. Perhaps the penalties have not hurt as much as has been suggested.Time for the side to play as winners not victims. Signs getting good and should carry forward to 07.

I went to that game, and when I was watching it, I was saying to myself that he will be a great player. Knows where the footy is, and is already a good user of the footy. The only negative on him is his size. However, with a couple of pre-seasons in the gym, he'll be perfect in every footballing department.

Agree completely, another pre season will do him the world of good.

another preseason will make him so much better

looks good but needs some body on him, especially evident vs pies where he could get good contested possesions out well enough. finds it well however

Nothing more to add, but agree with the sentiments. Good footy brain, skills and guts.

Definately couldnt agree more, 3 yrs time our midfield will be like the fab 4 @ brisbane with a lineup of B.Gibbs, M.Murphy, Blackwell and L.Toffolon (upcoming gun on-baller from Bulleen Temp, won the Colts 1 b&f in the YJFL by 9 votes, being watched closely by carlton, saw a scout at the grannie last sunday where Toffolon got 35 disposals & won the B&F in the grannie.)
