Based around the acquisitions made by Blair Hartley - Houli and Grigg last year lets look at which players are in similar positions to these guys.

Houli last season 26 games (5 in 2010)

Grigg last season 43 games in total (8 in 2010)

Adelaide

Ivan Maric 77 games (6 in 2011)

Carlton

Paul Bower 60 games (3 in 2011)
Shaun Hampson 44 games (9 in 2011)

Collingwood

Brent Macaffer 30 games (4 in 2011)
John McCarthy 18 games (8 in 2011)

Geelong

Taylor Hunt 20 games (13 in 2011)

Hawthorn

Xavier Ellis 78 games (8 in 2011)

Melbourne

Addam Maric 21 games (9 in 2011)

North

Lachlan Hansen 67 games (17 in 2011)

Sydney

Jesse White 52 games (12 in 2011)

West Coast

Mitch Brown 43 games (6 in 2011)
Tom Swift 28 games (5 in 2011)

* Not saying I want any of them, however its an interesting list of players. Looking forward to October I can see a few of them moving clubs.

Do you think we will go in with a similar trading strategy to last season or will it be altered to go for this "big fish"?

I think it will be similar to last year. We don't have anything, we would be willing to trade, that is worth a 'big fish'.

all of those players players have potential...our main needs are in the ruck, could be a matter of luck as to whether we get hampson or maric.

Not a bad list of players but not many KPB's. I think a list like that just shows how lucky we are to have a player like Tom Hislop and I'd be very surprised if Richmond let him go.

I think youre undervaluaing the contribution of Mitch Farmer,is a bigger body than hislop, and whilst we are blessed to have Tom i think Mitch is of far more value, The coaching staff value him too as he finished with a lot of B& F votes.

Pretty good list on potential, but this year isn't the year we needed to get a 'big fish'. Save that for next year.

I would love to get Macaffer, Hampson and Talyor Hunt. But we'l probably end up with only Maric

I reckon Taylor Hunt is in a far different basket to the rest of that list.
He'd have played a lot more games at any other club.
I think that's the point. Finding players who can play that aren't getting games. Having said that..feel he may have been injured a little bit this year hence only 13 games. Otherwise he is close to best 22 for them these days. Last year would have been the time to pounce.

True; but most of the time they've been shoving off the likes of Davenport/Callan/Playfair/Prismall (early 20s fringe player) to keep the (unseen) kids. No-one's ever really got one over them.

The list doesn't interest me to be honest, no prospective big fish in there IMO. Brown might improve as with a few other though

Yep. They certainly know what they are doing.

with all due respect nq farmer can eff off terrible decision maker and kick. delist!!!!!

Whilst noone thinks we have anything to trade, I am expecting and warming to the idea of trading pick 14 for someone like a hansen or Thompson from North (just using them as KPD examples) and then loading up next year in a very strong draft with the best available mids.

I did enjoy Dimma's comment in his B&F speech.

I'm paraphrasing here;
"We need to get better, and that means bringing new people into the club. So Blair and Cameron, the pressure is on!"

Certainly made me think that Maric isn't the only bloke on our radar.

Your right Slattery, Taylor Hunt would play more at other clubs and would probably have played close to all the games at Geelong if it was not for his injury mid season. Geelong hold him in very high regard and see him having a long career there. He will most likely be basically a lock in their team next year and so would not be worried about opportunities. I know for a fact that Taylor is very happy there, and the only thing that may work in the Tigers favour is that he was a massive Tigers supporter before he was drafted. He wont be looking to move clubs, but I wish he was.

I must be watching different games to you guys, i reckon hes average at best.

Whilst not exactly "shoving off" I beleive sydney have definatly got one over them in Mumford..... what I wouldnt give you have a crack at him

For some reason I always come back to liking Lachy Hansen. He has 37 shots on goal in 11 games at the back of 2010. He is a very good contested grab with supreme endurance. He is versatile also.

Yeah, that's true actually. Gun.

But that's one, out of... maybe 12 or 15 players they've got rid of or had pinched off them in the last 6 years?
Pretty good darts.

Swannies definitely came out on top with this one - there's no denying that.
Not much Geelong could do though, Mumford walked for the $$$. The have been very successful down at the Cattery with the other players that they have shipped off e.g. Prismall, Davenport etc

John McCathy is definitely worth a look at. if he doesn't cost too much he could be a very good addition to the midfield

??!?!?!?!?!

For serious?

He is terrible. If you have any mates that go for North, ask them what they think. They all hate Hansen. If you think Tambling, Jordi Mc, Hislop. Farmer etc. were whipping boys, they have nothing on what Hansen cops.

He is possibly the worst player in the AFL at the moment. And I don't say that lightly.

Whilst a massive exaggeration, he is pretty shit. And would definately not want him at Richmond. I'd rather have a crack at Jessie White than Hanson.

The only one on that list l'd take a look at (inc. I. Maaric) is Mitch Brown.
