Just what they want to do, unload second rounders for players, keep their firsts for the draft. They still have two picks in the 20s and firsts coming back for Prestia and O'Meara.Exactly, and Gold Coast gave up picks 22 and 30 and got Hanley.
Who else on the list is warranting that much of the salary cap though?
Isn't that donkey a fireman now?

So you're pretty sure we're gonna get two first rounders for Gibbs and that the club are negotiating with Freo to on-trade them for Fyfe?My understanding is that was the original plan but Freo may be prepared to move him now given they can get two first round picks as opposed to waiting till next year and potentially getting feck all if compo picks get scrapped.
You're not allowed to negotiate in the trade period, when someone says this what we'll offer you must accept and be happy... Lets straight swap tutt for marchbank"If Carlton won't accept just 13 then they should just release a statement saying Gibbs is staying" ahhh maybe they are you know negotiating.
Umm noSurely something has to happen today right?

Fyffe wants to play at Carlton though.
Source is no better or worse than in the past.
I took a phone call today whilst driving back to Sydney from Melbourne and was told to "hold on to the steering wheel tight, Fyffe is a massive chance to be in navy blue next season".
Like most of these things, I take them with a grain of salt until I hear the paperwork has been signed and lodged.

The Freo board have opened a thread and invited opposition supporters to discuss the Fyfe rumours. I just thought I'd throw out a potential trade hypothetical, without being disrespectful or trying to troll, and just got rubbish answers back like 3 x 1st rounders, Cripps and Weitering and blah blah blah.

Does anyone know how you can cancel your membership to the Carlton site?
I have just been stopped from posting any more comments on the Bryce Gibbs goes to Adelaide page because some unidentified mod didn't like my posts. Pity we don't have first amendment rights in this "small minded" country!
You know this how!
Then we have this.
Come on Sheik which is it!
Bolded points -
*Better get a bucket
*Potential guns could be water pistols too....It will be way more than one year, but i think i know what you're getting at.
*If his back was cooked i reckon his name may have been put up already in the name of a rebuild (hush hush)
*If Gibbs goes we need a like for like now, not next year.
*EFA
I'm off to bed,...it was fun.
'night fellow Bluebaggers!
It does not work! Come on we need to be patient. Fyfe is a temporary solution. Our problem is depth. We need to bring inWorks for me. I've seen enough games where we've struggled to trouble the scorers.... with Gibbs.
Take him out now and replace him with a kid or less experienced player how many goals would we score? Behinds we got covered. I like goals!
Scoring aside there are many more negative effects at different levels if we do not replace Gibbs.
I agree wholeheartedly. We are 22 games into a whole of club rebuild and we are talking about trading out picks for marquee players then denying it goes against our drafting and youth policy. Absolute madness! Look at St Kilda and the doggies - two clubs who in my view have the best young lists. They have invested in the draft (besides Boyd) nabbed a couple of steals in Bruce, Weller and Membrey and built a strong culture respectively. And here we are talking about pissing away two first round picks for Fyfe. It's a sad state of affairs out there and in here.
Neutral idiot commentators like Kornes grossly underrated anyone who plays for us, and thinks we should take flyers on risky, oft-injured guys because of where they were drafted.... meanwhile pissing away our primo picks.
Carlton fans in the midst of a rebuild can't shut up about which glorious star we should pay more than $1M per year to outbid all comers. What would we even DO with Nat Fyfe if we got him? We'd run the poor bastard into the ground and finish mid-table.
What is going on!?
No we cannot have Fyfe for absolutely nothing at the end of next year. He becomes a RFA then the same as Dangerfield did last year and they had to cough up to get him. If anything, we would get him cheaper this year and have the Gibbs situation fall in our lap to facilitate it. There will also be an extraordinary bidding war for him next year with teams like St. Kilda and Hawthorn clearing salary cap space for him and in a more attractive position than us. Fremantle will also have the salary to match with no Pavlich and most likely no Sandilands. All they have to do is match to force a trade next year given he won't be an unrestricted free agent. People seem to forget this aspect of free agency. While Hawthorn are in a poor position to land him this year and St. Kilda have given away their 1st pick this year, this could be our opportunity to swoop.
He brings more than just his on-field ability. How he would help the development of Cripps, Cuningham, C. Curnow etc. and the ripple effects that would have on the team cannot be ignored. A generational player like that is the perfect guy at the perfect age to help this rebuild. The circumstances around us bringing in Judd were different and if we get Fyfe you can't say 'it's the old Carlton again' because in those years we drafted poorly and only took the one first round pick each year. We can get Fyfe and not make the same mistakes as last time re: drafting and list strategy. It's not a case of Fyfe vs. rebuild. We can do both.
If we can somehow do it this year effectively for Gibbs, we will still have a first round pick this year and next year so it's not like we are forgoing the rebuild and will still be bringing in young high-end talent. It would also mean we replace Gibbs with a younger, more talented player. Many were happy to keep Bryce going into next year so how would we be worse off if it's Fyfe on our list instead of Gibbs if we effectively turn it into a straight swap?
Highly unlikely that we get him but I just wanted to clarify a few things with your post that I don't see eye to eye on.
You're wrong, RFA we just have to offer a better contract than the Dockers. We do not have to draft him, we just have to sign him which should be no problem for us. Don't agree that his onfield leadership is worth throwing early draft picks at. I don't think we will have trouble winning the bidding war, we should be able to afford to pay him a good contract.
This is the Judd thing over again but a little cheaper and contrary to what everyone believes Judd didn't change the culture or overly help our youngsters develop, they played their best footy after he left and we achieved nothing and had rank off field problems until Judd retired. Welcome back quick fix old school Carlton I suppose.
According to SEN reporter, Brett Anderson, onballer and former rising star winner, Rhys Palmer is also likely to join the Blues this week.
