My information is we're willing to go big to land Josh Kelly at Princes Park. His teammate at GWS Jacob Hopper to be joining him.

Vafa06 gets pretty solid info.

Kelly and Hopper are terrific talents but are they match winners ?

One of the few sensible things DAVID King said yesterday (talking about the Treloar trade) is you don't give up two first rounders unless it's for a match winner like Judd, Ablett, Selwood, Fyfe, Dangerfield the kind of player that can turn a match when things get tough.

If it's one first rounder per player I suppose that's fine but if it's more than that and given we'll prob get a pick 5 or better this year and 10 or better next, we might be better backing out judgement at the draft.

Hopper makes for an obvious hit but not feeling the same about our ability to land Kelly.

Top 3 pick this year we keep it. Cant say im completely sold on kelly, he'd cost 2 first picks and i just dont believe he is worth it at this stage of his career or our rebuild. Much rather grab hopper and a top midfielder in this years draft.

We have started down the road of a journey, and based in the past 15 years of false hope and miss steps, I am prepare to be a little patient.

I don't want to be "selling the farm" with trading out first round and future first round picks for the "Hail Mary" solutions.

I think we should have faith in the draft and a little more patience.


Performances like yesterday's will make the journey a little more pleasurable and bearable.

I think we'd have to give it up and I'd be more than fine with that.

Kelly 23 & Hopper 21 by Rd 1 next year, perfect age bracket. 10yr plus careers ahead of them and Kelly already A-grade with Hopper likely to be.

Then to add Shiel at the end of 2019....

If it was Kelly and Hopper for our 2017 and 2018 first rounders then it's not "selling the farm" at all. If we start sending multiple picks then it probably is. Personally I would prefer to just chase Hopper and hope to get a really good deal. Players like Kelly though with great outside games are bloody hard to find and are worth their weight in gold

Kelly is seriously good.
No chance GWS drop him to NEAFL when Coniglio comes back. Lots of good GWS players in NEAFL can't get a look in to Senior 22 but command draft picks when traded.
North are not idiots and are offering a 9 year contract.
Runs all day.
Very good kick.

I can't see SOS wanting to enter a bidding war for Kelly.
We may if we were on the edge of the 8 and needed some of what he has to offer, but it may just be a little early right now.
If the asking price is 1mil and over 5-9 years for our first rounder and then some.......do we enter the bidding?

We backed out for Prestia last year and I just don't see us backing ourselves to the degree Kelly would take, just yet.

As much as I like Kelly, he doesn't make the difference. Reckon we could do better and at the right time.
If he was a free agent, then of course.....but not for the money that could effectively tie-up 2 quality players.

What do you mean by doesnt make the difference harks ? . Not too many players are going to be better than Kelly by the time he's 25 . And we are talking about 10 year players here would come at an expensive cost but i'd rate him a better prospect than Treloar as he has better disposal . Adding a kelly and a hopper type is exactly what we need if it means giving up an extra first rounder to be sure of what we get im for it as we know what we'd get from these boys . They would be our version of Prestia and Caddy to richmond but better and i have no doubt those additions have helped richmond . And with those types of additions making a much better midfield our forwardline becomes instantly better with midfield dominance .
