Why do young key forwards get judged prematurely all the time?

All of a sudden Schache's a dud or was over valued in his draft year. What a load of garbage, was excellent in draft year and was always top 5 draft pick.

Key forwards take a long time to develop. You can usually write off there first few years. Won't be worth a pinch of sh*t early on. This happens over and over again yet posters want to judge them early and write them off.

Hawkins - at least 4 years to step up.
Patton - at least 4 years to establish himself.
Boyd - after nearly 3 years looked the goods in the finals. Now suffering depression.

You have to give key forwards 4 or 5 years. The reason we traded Kennedy was because Carlton was too short sighted to see this. How many posters wrote Patton off, plenty. Mckay will be just like the rest of the them, and so will schache.

I am pre-judging Shache I admit- I project that he will be a dud. I agree that you need to give forwards time - but I am concerned about his mental toughness and attitude. AFL is very difficult and most of the population don't have the mental aptitude to make it- and I just project that Schache doesn't have it and won't make it

I'd take Schache, worth the gamble IMO. He is a far better KPP prospect than any of this year's group and given the question marks over Rayner and LDU's comparison as a poor mans Cripps. I think we can hold off until 2018 draft to nab that top 5 pick midfielder.

Schache has the potential to be in the top 5 KPF in the AFL.
The lad needs to be content and motivated in an environment he wants to be in.
He has every right to demand that for himself , whether it be at CFC or else .
The AFL will realise eventually that obvious talent cannot be manipulated and manged it wants .

I'm not sure where the potential is coming from.

He's slow and not overly mobile, isn't a big contested marker, isn't great when the ball hits the ground and his biggest strength coming out of the draft being his goal-kicking accuracy hasn't really translated so far.

I know most of the time talls take longer, but normally you can get a glimpse of what they're good at whilst they're younger. I struggle to see really what his biggest threat is. I've seen more from McKay in his 2 or 3 games for us than I've seen in Schache in over 20 games.

By your own testimony, you've been here all of 5 minutes. In that time you've dropped a highly detailed and complicated 5-club trade scenario, then started asking long-time posters to cancel their accounts if they question you and it happens to go through.

Oh, and the mega-trade isn't a secret at all because it's just everyone helping everyone, and yet no mention of it in the media at all. Either this is being done behind closed doors and someone has risked their career (current and future) to tell you about it, or it's common knowledge and would be all over the TV, radio, internet and papers as one of the biggest deals in AFL history...or it's a bored keyboard warrior trying to get some internet love, or failing that pick fights with strangers.

Rest assured, if this plays out like you say it will, you'll be hailed a hero. If it doesn't, nobody will give a shit if you delete your account because you'll be forgotten by Christmas. If you're not comfortable with that then you're not being realistic about this at all.

Adelaide can't lowball with an offer of 600-700k then expect 2 x 1st rounders in exchange.

Thats a pretty good point 2 first rd picks or 10 +14 as ive seen suggested for Lever i would assume his salary would be in the range of 800k and upwards . If 600-700 is correct then the lower end 600 is not going to get 2 first rounders thats for sure .

Schache's mobility was one of his strengths. He's not super quick but has excellent endurance. Was seen as being in the Jarryd Roughead mould, could get up and down the ground well, setup goals as well as kick them. Well rounded key forward.

He's not been that since joining the AFL. His mobility might have been good at the lower levels, but at the AFL level he looks sluggish, even in the NEAFL he's not putting up good numbers. I watch the Lions every week (being in QLD they show every bloody Suns and Lions game every week) and he doesn't really do any of the things you listed well. Given that in his two seasons the club have said at the end he's been well and truly cooked both times I don't think endurance is a strength.

1. Adelaide will not give up pick 6 (Pies) and will most likely not give up pick 10 (Melb)

2. Adelaide won't give up their first and second this year

3. We won't accept only their first rounder

I think we're going to run into the same issue as last year: he's worth much more to us than pick 18, but Crows would feel they're overpaying due to his age.

I agree that his worth is much higher to us than what they offer. Only problem is when he leaves via free agency in 2 years we get nothing. Last year the only reason why we didn't trade him was because we couldn't find a replacement. If we do get Rocky for free it is worth doing IMO.
