Due to the sudden passing of Walsh and Hird's demise, the search for a coach has and will be ramped up. #bluemour

And it should be.

No-one ever expected for what happened to Walsh to occur but Hird would surely have been in the cross-hair well before the weekend.

Wouldn't be surprised for North to pull the trigger on Scott either, if they've sniffed out something better.

Oh and relax everybody. I'll separate some of this discussion into some board/Mick/Rogers/processes/whodunit bastardised hybrid thread for the compulsively tedious so a few of us who are interested can go about our business in peace.
I made my part of that "whodunit barstardised hybrid thread" because there was supposedly no thread to discuss the off field issues including board, coaches, list management, recruiting, development, media, public relations with members ect. all in one. Just because it's not up to your standards doesn't mean you should insult it, me or anyone else. As a mod, maybe you should have taken the initiative to fix it yourself after frustrations were expressed about no such thread, instead of having a go at the person who tried.

compulsively tedious:rolleyes:

I don't think that TODN had you in his cross-hair Puffer :)

Yeah, you've overreached here. It was the to and fro between Harks and I, with a touch of OCD and a need to respond that convinced me we were becoming tedious to those looking on . I gave in to the notion once it dragged on too long and it was an acknowledgment of our long winded banter and definitely self deprecating. Translation ... I was taking the piss out of me ... and a little bit Harks.

I'm actually enjoying the discussion and wanted to see if it had any life left in it.

Happy to hear we have added some urgency to the coach hunt, it was only going to be our space until the next club got impatient.

I sincerely hope we don't rush into the wrong decision purely so we don't miss out on someone potentially the right person. Need to stick with the process to try and ensure we do get the best person possible.

No, I'm calling those of us in the discussion as compulsively tedious. Self deprecation is my forte.
Maybe a little half cocked..It was one of the first posts read for the day and hadn't yet seen the new thread, just knew my attempted thread was somewhat whodunit and merged. Post from that thread defoged the windscreen.:thumbsu:

You mean Goddard being shit at Essendon and Boyd doing nothing at the Doggies?

Bullet dodged :p

A bit quick to knock Boyd, I reckon.

Anyway, you have Liam Jones. Bullet returned!

Essendon to honour Hird's contract for next year according to Robbo (after thinking he could be gone by this afternoon). Here's hoping and their recent form continues to boot.

I'd tipped Woosha to be heading across to Adelaide but thought maybe later this year for the head coach role. If this works out well in the interim perhaps the competition is no longer there.

Don't think that North will dishonour B.Scott's last year (2016), they seem pretty cohesive across their executive, coach included, and it probably goes against their monetary policy too.

Hardwick was in the gun earlier this year (brewing from Caro) but that has subsided now too.

Seeing the arse-end of Hird may just make the competition somewhat more bearable.............Simon the Likable has worn me out.

Ok so a few days ago I said something along the lines of Carlisle to carlton, now from a different source carlton are not that interested as they are fully committed in grabbing Charlie Dixon, that would be amazing!!

The candidate suited to us is not necessarily going to be suited to the other clubs - each club will have its own criteria so it doesn't really make sense that it needs to be ramped up. I really don't see how this changes anything or what we can ramp us to give us an advantage, candidates will make their choice on who they believe is the right fit for them, not which team made the offer first.

I hope we just go to the draft for a few years. Dixon is clearly a great player and Carlisle is pretty good too, but I would just like us to build up to making finals before we look at bringing in ready made players

Carlisle unlikely to be playing for a couple of years, does that count?

Dixon is only 24 big fowards hard to come by we could get quite a few years out of him, Brisbane apparently have tabled $3mil over five years, he may want to get out of QLD
He's a Queensland boy, so you'd be hard pressed to get him out of there. But he'd be one i'd definately have a look at.
