slashin_velvet, to my mind the position of a caretaker coach is like what Ratts did at the end of the 2006 season. They are only there for a limited amount of time and is usually the "head" assistant coach... Barker is a line assistant coach and shouldnt really be elevated to the position of caretaker coach because he has other duties... other duties that he would be unable to complete because of the level of work required to do the senior coaches job.

If he is going to be made the caretaker coach, it should only be for the period required for the club to find a replacement for Malthouse... 3-4 weeks max

On Triple M footy yesterday, one of the guys on there mentioned something about the Head Recruiter of GWS joining SOS at Carlton at the end of this year (after the Draft).
That d explain why we haven't put anyone else in this position just yet.
Anyone 'in the know' know whether this rumour has legs ?

This was posted a few months back by MS3 & has been mentioned on TC. Paul Brodie.

Generally those that become great coaches are those who scratched and clawed to get absolutely everything out of themselves on the football field. They maximized their potential and left it all out there. Leigh Matthews is a great example of this. I don't believe he was as talented as many other players in his day (though he was extremely talented) but absolutely nobody worked as hard or as long as Leigh. His work rate is legendary. He had the ruthlessness and the resolve that wasn't going to deny him from being the absolute best. This attitude both on and off the track helped lead him to becoming one of the best motivators that the game has ever had to offer. These characteristics are shared in other legendary coaches. The back pocket plumber, Kevin Sheedy, was also a phenomenal worker. Very few ever worked as hard as David Parkin. All of these guys led by the examples that they set long before they turned their hand at coaching.

Alan Joyce won a flag as Hawthorn coach, Ross Lyon has yet to win a flag as coach, but I don't think it is worth debating as to is the fsr greater coach.

Lyon hasn't finished yet and by looks of it that may very well change come September...

How many times have we crowned a premier in April and May only for them to fall apart? Not buying into the Dockers this early.

They're going to go close but I wouldn't be cashing out on them just yet.

If they beat Adelaide this week their next real challenges are at home (Richmond in round 10, Collingwood in round 13) until they play Hawthorn in round 15. They should be undefeated entering that Hawks clash unless they have a letdown.

Their last month of the season will be tough -- West Coast derby, @ North, Melbourne (the only 'easy' one) and @ Port Adelaide. We'll know then if they're the real deal this year.

It is strongly believed that John Worsfold will be coaching the Carlton Football Club in 2016. Both parties are agreeing on personal terms before an official statement is released.

Would be enough for me not to renew my membership

Sadly, I won't be renew my membership come 2016. I'm over our board, and their quick fixes.

This sad cycle is just going to continue, so long as these fools continue to be in charge.

Problem with caretaker is you might get wins and then get an inferior draft position

Ironic isn't it given we want our team to win

**** the draft position. Go out and try and win as well as develop your kids and the rest will follow.

We got 3 number 1 picks in a row + Chris Judd and peaked at 5th.

If we tank I'll be ****ing pissed off.

Not worsfold.....pleeease

Just do the bloody right thing and go throuh the process of getting the right guy for the job.

I am really sick of the way this club is run, gutless, morons and liars

The poor managment of our club has us where we are today, and by the looks nothing is changing, get rid of the board after the bye more like it
