Not that enthused about Patton or Tomlinson. I'd actually look further to see if we could get Peter Wright from the Gold Coast, who is going to struggle to get game time with Lynch and Day holding down the key forward posts.
I like that thought... but do we really need another 2m tall KPF/Ruckman?

I would prefer that the club goes chasing after a key forward around the 193-195cm mark.

McKay doesn't really play in the ruck though, although he can go there if needed.

Id be happy with 2 Metre Peter... because hopefully, he continues playing cricket at my club!. Bowls thunder.

I was talking about 2m Peter :)

We would need to get rid of Levi (who I think said that he is about 201cm tall recently)

Not interested in giving up our pick 1-3. Especially in a deal like the rumour.

Tomlinson worth 15-30
Patton worth... I have no idea now. He's been pretty injured

Pick 1-3 worth pick 1-3 I guess
Gibbs worth 10-18
White worth a good guy spot

Just no!

1st rounder does not = pick 1-3 guys

People keep on saying we should get Tomlinson. He hasn't been able to crack into the GWS side because he's not good enough. But would he be better than a new player we get with the pick instead of trading for him? Is Tomlinson suddenly going to be good just because he joins us? Seems like we're always talking about potential and what could be. I'd rather use the pick on a kid, than someone who's been in the system for a couple of years but hasn't shown much at all.

I'm just not convinced on either of them. Patton i don't think is mobile enough and i'm not sure Tomlinson can make the jump from NEAFL to AFL.
^This. Like Kreuzer, Patton may struggle to get off the ground soon if he gets anymore serious leg injuries. Already missed 1 year with a knee and another with either an ankle or a foot. Tomlinson is only getting the 4th best defender when he plays and really struggling to perform.

Keep in mind he barely ever plays CHF which IMO is his best position.

Due to the rediculous wealth of KPP at GWS he generally plays on the wing or a high half forward.

have to think SOS would have a good handle on Tomlinson's potential. looks to have been on the money with Plow.

I don't have an issue getting Tomlinson to the club - I just don't want to pay a premium to get him.

Trade Gibbs for Port 1st round pick (#8)

Trade #8, #19, #50 & #55 + future 1st round pick to GWS for:
Two of their three 1st round picks (#9 + #12)
Lachie Whitfield, Caleb Marchbank, Adam Tomlinson

Trade GWS pick #12 + #37 to Sydney for: Tom Mitchell
*out of contract

We go to draft with pick #1 - SPS (outside mid) & #9 - SPP (inside mid) having accumulated Whitfield (outside mid), Mitchell (inside mid), Marchbank (KPD), & Tomlinson (KPF)

Rebuild done.

I understand why everyone wants to trade Gibbs but he is a contracted player and I can't seem him leaving melbourne. His partner is from Melbourne, his business is in melbourne, just built a new house around the corner from Princes Park.

Is there a melbourne club that would offer a good enough pick plus be able to pay him what we do?

I just can't see it happening.

North would possibly be interested, even Hawthorn.

The Hawks would be mustard to bring in someone like Gibbs to extend the window a bit....They won't have the picks to make it worth our while though.

Collingwood too - maybe for their first rounder this year?.....Oh, wait.

Just for the record - SOS or we, I don't care how you look at it, did the right thing by loading up on KP.
They take time and are so much harder to find/build with then midfielders. The fact that we where able to get 3 top 10 picks in 1 draft is bloody exciting!

All good points but what we've seen so far this season is that our midfield is still too slow and one dimensional compared to the top teams of the comp.

Our first pick should be used on the best available speedy mid type that can kick goals. An Issac Heeney type would be perfect.

Sounds too good to be true and you know what they say about that.

I'd be wanting to see if we can offload Gibbs to Gold Coast for Prestia (might need to chuck in a third rounder too)

Gibbs age will count against us getting a top pick, trying to trade him for a younger player is our best bet (and try get his large contract off our books as well)
