That to me is the biggest piece of the puzzle that's gone largely unnoticed, we should be a lot better SC wise now and hopefully have already got into Humphrey and Butters ears for next season.we'd have plenty of cash up our sleeves to spend next year surely?

My thinking re: Humphrey is I'm almost glad he is staying at Gold Coast knowing he will likely try to leave again next year. As it stands, if he was seriously up for trade this year, we would have been 3rd or 4th in line. The next 12 months offers us an opportunity to show opposition players we are an exciting team on the up, brimming with young talent.
Given we have lost 3 excellent players this year, its actually remarkable we have been able to attract very good footballers to the club. North weren't able to attract anymore except Spargo, likewise with many other teams.
Not all doom and gloom. I feel like the narrative and wheel is turning ar Carlton. A change in culture and approach on the way.
Wow! 3x 1sts. A lot of embarrassing overreacting going on in here.

If they want to come we would have two firsts in each draft. No other club will have that. This year was our chance, we had the currency to get a deal done.
Unless we trade out players in 2026 or Tassie gets pushed back can’t see us having any chance at Humphrey or Butters.
This place
Geelong - offer 3x firsts (forum - oh what a shit deal)
Sydney - offer 3x firsts and a player, with picks going back (forum - oh yes! Lets circle jerk each other)
I’m a Hayward fan and glad we got him in the deal.

It may be weaker on paper - but who knows.
At what point does a balanced team become greater than the talent within?
We’re about to find out hopefully.
Dont expect much, packet of chips, maybe.Whens the coaches trade week begin? Can't wait.
The other side of it is that in 2012-13, we all told ourselves that you couldn't pay a small forward what Betts was asking, that it was a smart trade. That if Waite wanted out, **** him. That if Robinson and Garlett were going to lie to the club, we didn't want them round anyway. That if Henderson didn't want to be here, he and his mum could piss off.
This saw us systematically dismantle our forward line at the behest of another Collingwood bloke who was brought in to take us to the next level. Now, Curnow is one piece, but that's an awful lot of goals out the door. If we cannot replace them, we're gonna struggle.
I dunno. They say history might not repeat exactly but it frequently rhymes. I like the idea of changing things around, the redeployment and the clear indications that we're aiming at 2027 hard; I struggle with the depth and breadth of quality we've lost on every line. It's not an unequivocal success nor unmitigated disaster, but time will tell how impactful this trade period was.

Aren't the umpires going to toss it up...? Seems a more appropriate title for the toss..s...They won't anymore.

Add it to the couple of packets we picked up in last year for Kennedy, Owies and Martin.Dont expect much, packet of chips, maybe.
Sydney piss farting around till the last 5 mins also left us no time to get the Buku trade resolved.Club not happy with Dogs. Deal all but agreed but Dogs kept changing
We will remember this

It'll be interesting, given we have 2 x 2027 R1 picks, plus potential to trade a 2028 R1 pick next year...Highly unlikely we will chase a big name at the trade table next year.
We won't be trading away our first rounders as we need them for Cody.
