The culture is rotten to its core. That's the reason JSOS left. You don't let a two time coleman medallist leave with 4 years remaining on his contract to a premiership contender and take their salary dumps.
Ainsworth, Hayward and Florent are using up over 2 million of the salary cap as flankers.
The first round pick we got from Sydney this year will be swallowed up by the Dean selection. The future first picks will be late teens.
We still haven't addressed our midfield speed issue and now we've lost our best forward, Ruckman and second best defender.

Where does our improvement come from?
We have one key forward on our list!!
Ah, the Silvagni spokesman is back! Good to have your refreshing insights blow back through like a cool breeze on the beach Opium. Enjoyed trade period no doubt?
Assuming your question was rhetorical....🤔

As opposed to matching TDK on 1.7m, JSOS 0.9M and CC on circa 1M a season.
It is huge cap relief.
But we haven't replaced them with like for like have we. We haven't addressed our deficiencies from this season. Again you haven't answered the question while taking pot shots.

How have we improved after trade period.
We still have the same coach who has failed the past 4 years.

That's culture and leadership. Jack Silvagni is a player who wants to win at all costs. For him to jump ship confirms the club is in a massive hole and he couldn't see anything to indicate its changing anytime soon.
Yet he goes to a club willing to pay double his salary where his father works. His god father is the coach. And they haven’t won a premiership in over 60 years.

One step back for 3 steps forward is my take

Off field made a heap of changes to address issues you mentioned

On field we have young talent, depth and great picks for next 3 years

Long way to go but changes have been made and we are attempting to address many issues

Time will tell I guess.

Our biggest issue this year was utterly putrid outside run and ball use. We added 4 players who provide that and look likely to add 2-3 more in the draft.

What else were you expecting from us?

That plus Jeremy Cameron and the reincarnation of plugger and Peter Hudson apparently

Our midfield is still the same core. No improvement from those trades.

The clubs stance was that we wanted an A grade player if we were to trade Charlie. A player with 4 years remaining on his contract and we traded him to the club of his choice. Why? Which A grader did we end up with?
Leek Aleer was gettable and would of slotted in perfectly with Weitering instead of using a future second on Ainsworth.
We couldn't even get Khamis deal over the line.
We traded away alot of future picks too. Next year we only have our first rounder and Sydney's first which highly likely will need to be used to match Cody Walker. Our next pick is 4th round.

Jack was an injury prone 29yo with young players coming for his spot and an inflated long term contract on offer from the opposition - what's that go to do with kulcha

Everyone with an iota of brain function knew this was posturing. No club was going to give us A grade talent back for Charlie and from all reports he was completely committed to leaving the club so had to go.

As for Leek Aleer, bit late in the piece to go through a recruiting process with 5 days to go in the trade period with a player who was overseas at the time. Any other club needing a KPD could have grabbed him too and yet he ended up with no suitors and back at GWS. Ainsworth is a far more established talent and brings exactly what we lack across our half forward line, elite running and quality kicking inside 50.

Khamis... A third tall swingman who's still a speculative prospect at best, hardly a great loss. Ultimately it was Buku or the 2027 Swans first rounder in the Curnow deal. Would take the first any day.

And we seem to be forgetting that the club invested a top 3 pick in a POD midfielder just last season?

Which we may do again this year as well, or the year after. The Curnow deal has unlocked the ability to target 'A grade' talent at the top end of the draft for the next few years.

It was widely reported that when JSOS announced he was leaving the offers before him were similar to our offer. It was some time later that the inflated offer from the Saints came in.

Those who like to spruke that he left for money are doing him a disservice IMO. I don't know why he wanted out but from all reports it wasn't initially for money.

Would love Choco at club. No better developer of younger players and also a great skills coach

IMO he is exactly what we need
Guy's a head case.

And he would never join Carlton as Blue Tongue alluded to, he hates Carlton with a passion.

Agree we need a good skills coach. Not that guy though.

This shopping himself was all a smokescreen..orchestrated through family connections, Jack’s last contract wasn’t going to go unrewarded.

This was in the plan for their recruiting drive for free acquisitions. Jack & TDK in the box with Grubby was no coincidence.

Footy is business, and Jack and SOS played the whole competition perfectly - see the coffee date with McRae.

He probably stays if we were on the cusp of a flag but that's the price we pay for ****ing it up.

At the end of the day, the in’s out’s & picks mean exactly nothing if we don’t have a massive change in game plan & style.

We have been shit largely due to an outdated, slow, congested, contest first game plan.
We either evolve & adapt or more of the same is coming.

Hopefully our tolerance is close to zero and if we do start going down the same path we cut our loss quickly.

For all the positivity people try to foster, Voss hasn’t come close to showing or proving he’s a decent coach who can implement an effective game plan that utilizes our players to their strengths.
