Not at all true. The instances of concussion with an without headgear have been heavily studied recently. Per head knock there is way less concussion with head gear than without. The issues come into it with players subconsciously or on purpose even becoming more reckless when they play with head gear, increasing the number of at risk actions.Headgear increases instance of concussion.
