They have been told to put a hold on all marketing in the club right now until things settle down.
Womens team stuff is still going and there’s a Rish & Rath pod that just came out (which is a launch point for a Bonnie & Maddy pod), it’s just the mens team stuff that has stopped.

The Barham presser on Friday just over a week ago had some media handler person telling him to stop answering questions and walk away near the end too, though the questions weren’t bad and he still answered 1-2.

They seem to be running scared at the same time as being arrogant and out of touch.

But yes, October 3rd is the date. I don’t know why it’s not on the club website but it’s in the media release emails. A good time to unveil a new coach I suppose.

6-8 weeks? There’s only 5 weeks until free agency and then subsequently trade period, surely we are hiring a coach before then otherwise no one is coming and a few defiantly might leave!

I keep Old Speckled Hen in the fridge. It’s an English ale I discovered 23 years ago in The Turf Tavern, a 12th century pub hidden in a nook in Oxford. Was very happy to realise that Dan Murphys had imported bottles recently. Highly recommended although it was much better on tap.

Adelaide airport used to have it on tap. Used to always get one before flights.

Tried this not long ago for the first time, wont be the last;)

I reckon there's a very good chance it ends up - Hird as coach.

I cannot see a world in which Jordan Lewis and Robert Walls recommend Hird.

Particularly for Lewis, it would be absolute career suicide if he has any intention whatsoever of being more than just a media pundit in the AFL industry.

Sounds like a Don Pyke training camp. Maybe they are hoping everyone quits after 5weeks except for Hird.

I can see a world where James Hirds our next coach. Because it's how we roll.

And I'm on here bitching and moaning about a lack of review and processes and yet ultimately don't mind getting Hirdy in tbe job.

I would have thought that those that really don't want him would screaming for processes and the president to keep quiet about announcing what we need etc. There's no way a proper review done by industry experts recommends Hird as coach. It's probably one of the reasons we won't be having one (that and to keep dodoro)....

So we’re back to this;

So we’re back to this;
Do you think this is an independent panel and a proper process? The narrative has already been set by the President before they were put together.

Perhaps not so thorough or independent ...probably worth asking the question - why would he do say that? Who decided that's what we need?...was it Barham unilaterally? Seems like a big call from the new president to rule out half the field - including potentially the next Alistair Clarkson. Who else may have influenced that direction? And who put this panel together?

I also wonder how the panel will work. Do they sign off on a single candidate or do the board sit in on the final round of interviews (perhaps with the panel chair.and a couple of others) and the whole panel is more for the preliminary rounds etc.

All that and Lewis could also disagree and Hird still gets up of course. There not a massive field if experienced AFL coaches to chooe from after all. It won't need to be a unanimous decision.

All.easily manipulated if the club wants that IMO.

I can’t see Hird becoming coach either.

If we start the season poorly with Hird as coach, the media speculation would be be out of control about how we stuffed up. If Hird was involved as a senior assistant or any type of assistant, media speculation would be about him taking over as soon as we have a bad patch.

the more I think about it I just don’t think Hird back at the club in a coaching capacity is tenable. I think it’s much more likely that we go for someone else, and if if they are sacked in a few years and Hird uses that time to gain experience as an assistant like Voss, then he could come back then perhaps.

Over the last 2 decade's this is possibly the closest thing you will ever see to an independent and external process at Essendon.

Enjoy the small wins for now, come October you'll have plenty of time to go all scorched earth if your concerns come to fruition. 👍
