Tom Morris, 9 News via Fox Sports:

“A major board challenge is imminent at Essendon. In the wake of an off-season of turmoil, key powerbrokers - including at least one former player - are preparing a movement which would oust David Barham as president, and other directors too,” he said on Nine News.

“I’ve spoken to one of the key powerbrokers tonight, who says this is not coterie-driven, and it’s just a manner of when and not if the challenge takes place.

“There’s a view the club has been left rudderless and the Barham era has left a legacy of division, instability, player drainage and lost opportunity from this group of people.”

We are on the precipice of making a grave error. We need this window to get rid of the dead wood. This is evidence for why you must act decisively when you come to a club and have that grace period. 3 seasons in and the grace is gone.
Totally agree. Decisions to make changes need to be swift and decisive.
The culture was so entrenched though, I'm not sure if that could have been done.

Exactly. I’m probably one of the least upset with where we are list wise. In no way am I against the direction that Scott and Rosa are going; except for taking their time and not cutting deep enough. Because they have to factor in the external forces at play at Essendon that will intervene. I have no faith in our fan base to have the patience that is required.
They had to put up with the end of the Dodoro era first.

Sometimes I think people just like yelling buzz phrases without actually knowing what they even mean by it. "Act decisively!" "Focus on footy!" its the equivalent of those guys at the game who just scream "get it out of the middle!" when absolutely nothing is happening at that moment on the field that warrants that being yelled out.

Barham, Vozzo, Scott have actually enacted some change at the club. We are not privy to the info on why that takes as long as it does, but they are doing it. Which is a hell of a lot more than anything anyone did prior to them. And now apparently a group of those prior to them want to come back and undo what's being done? Because it was working so well before? You just cannot tell me it's anything other than ego.
Where are you getting that from?

They didn’t want to use the word rebuild. It’s pretty simple. Tasmania are coming into the competition and they need to go to the draft now - our current list isn’t capable.
100%

Language is everything. Had they been upfront about it and called it for what it is, there might not be this reaction.
Because, of course we had a down year, it's a rebuild.

Hardly an exodus of players. Draper left on his own free will and probably not a huge loss for where we are at and Merrett sooked it up, thats is it!

I don't really fuss too much about who is on the board or coach (Coach needs the right players, first and foremost) but let Dodoro back in and we are screwed.

Any excuse to regain power and there had to be a seemingly legitimate reason and the optics are now there (especially the captain wanting out) for them to be able to go for the spill. Totally agree on the last paragraph, that is the chief concern - he will finish the club off.

When he comes back, At least he can pay back the unfair dismissal settlement money to help top up the coffers 😬

Scott has preached for long-term/building/no short cuts since the day he's walked through the door and has remained consistent on that messaging since. A vision and a plan that's been aligned with Vozzo since then as well (further reiterated as such in the article that announced the year extension). To falsely say otherwise then use that as reason/proof for a challenge is both misinformed and deceptive.

He can preach whatever he wants. The reality is that he sat on his hands for 2 seasons and the people who matter know it.

You don't have to beleive me. You can just look at our top 3 most important players (i.e. Merrett, Ridley and Draper) all leaving or trying to get out.

I am not saying that there is no such example but is there a version of this rebuilding that has worked when the team has plummeted to its lowest ebb in year 3 of the coach's tenure? I often hear that progress is not linear. That is true in terms of results it is almost impossible for improvement in results to be linear. But progress and squad development that is almost always linear and certain trends positively over time.

You should go and get all of Scott's quotes from his time at North. They prided themselves on taking every first round pick in his time there. But then Durdin and McKay had played something like 20 games in a combined total of 10 years on the list and they hit rock bottom as hard as though had been trading all of those picks out for senior players. Interestingly it was about 2 wasted yeards before Scott went to the board to say that the players weren't good enough (well into 2019) which is when he was given his marching orders. This is what Brad Scott does, he says good things...

So, what would you like done?

**** around? We’ve made 31 list changes in that time and another 6 already this year, that’s basically a full squad of players turned over.

Not to mention a complete overhaul of the football department from the President, CEO, GM, board, coaching staff, fitness staff and recruitment team (and probably more!?).

Was all that meant to have happened overnight? The majority of that took place within the first two years! If that’s not “getting on with it” then you could have knocked me down with a feather…

like i said it wasn't my message.

I was just giving you the context..........
