Watched the Shadow of Doubt documentary on CI last night and found it a fairly interesting case. Whilst i am convinced that Susan Neill-Fraser was a significant player in his murder it has caused quite a controversy in Tasmania being unique to the Island in that no body was ever found.

Been in the media a fair bit and thought id throw it open to bigfooty to discuss.

Article here with some of the major points of the case:

Gees at first look i'd say guilty, why change your story so much and lie, touching the winch handle after being told not to, best dressed in prison, thought that's why they have prison greens?

Agree. One omission can be forgive however right throughout her version of event has been hazy at best and for the most part a downright lie. Researching on the bet however and she does appear to have a very vocal set of believers. I just can't see her innocence given the facts we have

The Shadow of Doubt documentary on CI last night has raised an interesting discussion. Some of the evidence listed from herald sun article (linked above) that was not mentioned in the show.
• "She searched the internet in the first days, wanting to know how long before a missing person could legally be declared dead"
• "She telephone records showed that she had dialled the *10# "callback" service at 3.08am to see if anyone had called."
However the most damming part to me was the lying about her movements on the Night of her partner’s disappearance. As Jade has mentioned she has a very vocal set of believers, and also it look like the prosecutions did make some mistakes, for enough doubt ?
Again from the Herald-Sun Article
"Bob Chappell's children maintain a dignified silence. His son, Tim, said last week the evidence and the verdict spoke for themselves"

Bump. Case is in the news again with an appeal and Channel 7 documentary series: Undercurrent.

The case is built almost entirely on circumstantial evidence which makes the conviction and lengthy sentence interesting to say the least.

On the documentary, I’ll probably continue watching but I don’t find it anywhere near as compelling as Making a Murderer. The filmmaker seems to have inserted them self into the story and could possibly be trying to engineer an outcome by witness coercion to back up their ‘gut feel’ that Susan Neill-Fraser is innocent.

Interested in others thoughts....

Who did she see?

And why is a 15 yr old on the boat? Is she related to one or the other? Or is she admitting she was with the killer and therefore an accessory?

Apparently she wasn’t paid for that interview with 60 minutes last night. Only travel and accommodation was paid for
Travel and accommodation is hard to come by for some people. Wonder how long her stay was at Hamilton Island, or wherever it was that 60 Minutes put her for the interview?

BTW if 60 Minutes says they didn't pay her for the interview it's not necessarily true.

Beyond reasonable doubt.

Vass admits she was on the boat and her DNA was found on the boat.

Sue must be released.
Was this unknown DNA introduced at the trial?

Yet another case of ' let's present the evidence that suits our cause'. Some people need to grow a brain.
Yes indeed, that exactly why Neil-Fraser is in prison. Thats exactly why they came up with the transference theory about how Vass's vomit ended up on the deck boat.

This whole things is starting to sound like the Gable Tostee case all over again - charged and almost convicted by the court of public opinion, and by lazy bumbling police who would rather follow their childish hunches than do proper Police work. Well it turns out their hunches were wrong again. Surprise surprise.

anyone thinking Tosser was innocent is fair dinkum brain short.

Her DNA was found on thr boat so she probably was there , it is just a pity that drugs has addled her mind to the point she cannot remeber clearly what happened.
Vass has never given the same story twice. She did say she had been pressured at times to say things so when you have someone whose memory is tainted and is being bullied you will always have a witness who cannot be relied on.

A pity for Susan as if it was a robbery gone wrong we will never know for sure with any certainty .
