Well in my area it happened and the conversation amongst a group of a dozen or so Roos fans focussed upon 'wallpaper over gaps' with the past two weeks of soft victories and below expected performance from 'the unit'....as well as kicking goals in the junk time of the last quarter.

The underlying worry is that it will all come undone week one of the finals because of the illusion that some of these people are seeing.

The first half was dismal and THAT cant happen in a Final.

But what would I know.

And remember, dont jeer at the footy but come to Big Footy and jeer all you like with the added bonus of it being in black and white and lasting forever.

ie Search 'Shannon Watt' NMFC BF Thread only.

Quite a good post gaso. :thumbsu:

Appealing for common sense from the minority who are morons is a pointless exercise.

If the club is going to go on the crusade against morons then they should shut down the facebook and twitter pages while they are at it.

North have won the last 7 out of 8, one of our best runs in years. And still some people can't be happy.

Tarrant kicks 4 last week, struggles for three quarters today and then is booed, sticks it up the faithful with three in the final quarter. Well done Robbie

Call me an old geyser at 44 yrs of age, but what happened today pales into insignificance the stuff Shinboners used to dish out at Arden Street back in the 70's and 80's.

Steve McCann, Roy Ramsay, Arnie Briedis and our very own DMAC were a few that I remember the old stand jeering on.

Hear ye Jd. :thumbsu: Not every game's going to be Globetrotter like. Small crowd against a side having a crappy year, who were desperate to show something, and we pissfarted around with the pill for far too long. It seemed the classic flat feeling crowd with the flat game to match TBH.

I've never booed one of our own and I never will. The bronx cheers were pathetic, but not unexpected from the peanut gallery section of the crowd.

Lets no get carried away, he copped a bronx cheer by a small section of the crowd when he took a one grab mark after spilling a few sitters. While I do not condone the bronx cheer, it is not booing. Everyone got around him when he picked things up a bit.

I couldnt make it to todays game but have attend most others and never heard it before. If this is true then its a disgrace and if its coming from the cheer squad then kick them out. Maybe it was the other side doing it?

Exactly Tas. Too many precious types on this forum. So Robbie received an ironical cheer. Big ****en Deal. :stern look

The only booing I heard from North supporters (towards North players) was when we played back to an open man rather than move it forward quickly at some stage in the 2nd quarter, having stuffed around with the pill for ages.

I'll be honest, I jeered............... Brad Scott for once more playing J-Mac anywhere near the backline. Getting outmarked by Dylan Addison FFS.

But I'll put my hand up & take it back................... When Brad Scott subbed J-Mac out.

Go figure...

A whipping boy was a young boy who was assigned to a young prince and was punished when the prince misbehaved or fell behind in his schooling. Whipping boys were established in the English court during the monarchies of the 15th century and 16th centuries. They were created because of the idea of the divine right of kings, which stated that kings were appointed by God, and implied that no one but the king was worthy of punishing the king’s son. Since the king was rarely around to punish his son when necessary, tutors to the young prince found it extremely difficult to enforce rules or learning.
Whipping boys were generally of high status, and were educated with the prince from birth. Because the prince and whipping boy grew up together they usually formed a strong emotional bond, especially since the prince usually did not have playmates as other children would have had. The strong bond that developed between a prince and his whipping boy dramatically increased the effectiveness of using a whipping boy as a form of punishment for a prince. The idea of the whipping boys was that seeing a friend being whipped or beaten for something that he had done wrong would be likely to ensure that the prince would not make the same mistake again.

why is brad scott concerning himself with what the crowd are doing? :head with questionmarks:

Nice research Gaso. I guess the whole whipping boy theory fell apart if the young English prince enjoyed watching another young lad have his backside whipped.

He believes his players deserve more respect from their own supporters/members. Plus he also mention it's very un-North like from our crowds and I agree. We are not Richmond supporters.

Mark Dawson was often jeerworthy, IIRC. I wasn't a jeeror but the only player I ever felt like jeering was Graeme Cornes. He was hopeless.

I admit that i was giving this board a massive ****ing bronx cheer for the first half of the year but since it's performance has picked up of late I have gone back to cheering. I apologize if I may have offended anyone and hope the mods don't block my account after the mandate passed down from the club hierarchy that we can't give the occasional rocket to our own.

Moan to your footy pals is one thing but booing YOUR OWN TEAM, is totally out of order in my book. It's bringing yourself down to the level of some opposition team fans that I won't mention but they know who they are.
