The visitors bought their east coast foul weather with them and made the best of those conditions, producing a seven-goal to one opening term in setting up the 20.11 (131) to 11.10 (76) victory.
Full-forward Matthew Little proved the best target on the ground, kicking seven goals for Victoria, while Box Hill's Ed Curnow outstanding with 38 possessions.

Things didn’t get better in the second with Luke Breust kicking a goal inside two minutes and Little added his third before Hildebrandt got one for WA when alone in the goal square.
That was the home side's first goal in over a quarter, but it couldn’t put a halt to Victoria's dominance, the visitors opening up a 56-point half-time advantage.

An interesting number of either Hawthorn rejects or those that have been invited to do a pre-season with the Hawks, but still didn't get the nod are judged to be in the best that the VFL have got to take on the other states.
Matt Little though, seems to be a much more accomplished footballer now, 2 yrs of him bulking up and finding his way and a sense of authority.
But both the Vic. ruckmen, Curnow, and even Sam Gibson was a rookie at one stage.
