The mail is its currently between Dunn and McLean.

If this happens then this would also open up the draft for the Dons and make Tenace seem like a steal at 6.

Interesting point you make there liz. Morrison could be a possibility but I think they would be after more of a key backman rather than a forward. I think that if my prediction is right and Ryley Dunn lasts till Pick #16, the Swans will snap him up.

I don't know what Sydney will do with their first pick but I agree that Dunn is a distinct possibility if he lasts. Be prepared for them to take a big smokey with their second or third.

You are exactly right.
For some reason dasler, roo matera, weaver etc., are biased towards this kid and whilst they won't say it reckon he's soft. Well, they say it in a round about way by referring to him as a downhill skier because they are all too weak to say outright that he's soft. Dasler chooses to refer to him as an outside or outside outside player as if the term outside means a player who is essentially a receiver and doesn't win the hard ball which is wrong.
On another point dasler, you see fit to have a go at 79vintage about his above comment or assumptions being based on a three game carnival yet you agree with weaver who would also only have seen him three times.
I don't recall seeing the term downhill skier being used in relation to any other player who has been discussed on this thread and I noticed that weaver re wrote his original assessment and deleted the term.
The bottom line is that for self appointed armchair experts to refer to a 17yr old kid as a downhill skier (soft) is unfair and each of you should take a long hard look at yourselves.

We had a major discussion on this on the Bulldogs board.

Don't beat around the bush.

If a player is soft, tell me he's soft.

Reliable.

And on the Farren Ray debate....

the kid is an enormously talented player. He is not soft. In fact he is very courageous in the air. He is a very good pick and will be an excellent AFL player.

A major discussion about what?

Stop sitting there stroking yourself Yakuza, I simply said IMO his type of player isn't to my personal liking, as he is SOFT in my opinion.

Oh and I dont confess to be an armchair expert at all, that's something you beat up so you can make yourself feel better behind a computer screen slandering off at everyone whose views differ from yours.

And for the record I have gone on public statement and said Farren is talented........he just isn't my type of player. OK.

Cheers,

dasler

On Farren Ray

First off, I do not consider myself as a "self appointed armchair experts", I have seen many of his games, and though a good player, hes not a first round draft pick. Hes the type to be and outside reciever from a ruck with a booming kick into the forward line. Often ill-directed and is the type to go out in a blaze of glory.
Though missing out on many of Peel's games, Ray polled pretty badly in their best and fairest.

Though the kid has the "potential" to be great as he is a good athlete, his decisions onfield need to be tweaked, I guess you could say that he'll get that in time, as hes only been playing for 3 years, due to being a soccer convert.

More of a long term goal selecting Ray.

Be warned Melbourne, injury excuse or not, Chris Johnson = Trent Croad. I can't stress that enough. Plays "well" within a below standard highschool league, won't cut it elsewhere.

What I see, Melbourne was caught in a trap, where they either pick up a dud, or feel the backlash of the melbourne supporters (they'll throw there champagne glasses) for not picking up a person to what the members believe, a person equal to that of "Daniel Wells" ability.

All demons supporters, feel free to quote me on this, so you can diss me when he does become a champion.

Kep Bradley believes himself going at number 6 to essendon. His own opinion that he is too skinny to go any earlier in the draft.

This talent spotting business is really all down to personal opinion, people's opinions differ, so hopefully we can have good discussions, some arguments, a few laughs and maybe a few "I told you so's".;)

If players are picked on what they will become and not what they currently are, then in my opinion Farren Ray is an early first round draft pick.

Your forgeting our choach is K.Sheedy he loves athletes (he will take Bradley if available ) and a guy who'd 198cm and can move as good if not better than fletch will be gold once he develops think about it give him 3,4 years of weights and to develop his endurance he'll be nearly impossible to match up one can out run oppenents on wing, can ruck, can play FF, FB, CHF ,CHF he's a next generation pavlich, kouta. As for us needeing fast midfidlers say we get dyson (who i've heard is quick )with pick 13 add him to walsh, winderlich, reynolds, rama, alvey, cupido (will develop into midfieler), mephee(will eventually take wellmans role but will be blooded through midfield) haynes, there's enough quick midfiders for now anyway pace is overated if we improve our clearances then pace won't be such a big an issue

If this happens, I will personally be putting Adrian Dodoro in a straight jacket.

when u select a player in the draft you select someone u think will play 200 for your club it doesn't matter if he's skinny if he's got talent and there's nothing better on offer u take him. most players take about 3,4 (40-80games) years to have a body/ mind capable of playing at the elite level if u think he's good enough take him and sheedy took bolten FFS so be prepared to put

I am reliably informed that Adrian Dodoro doesn't have much say when it comes to who Essendon picks!

Thanks for that, I must have a look.

What if the 5 picks before us are all quality on ballers(cooney, tennance, syliva, walker ,mclean than would you consider Bradley?

Without a doubt but I feel he will be gone before you get a pick.
