Nick Potter is a NSW boy. Not fairly well known.

I would say that if he is still around we will definitely pick him up in some fashion. Either in the national draft or the rookie draft.

I would be VERY surprised if he wasn't picked up after playing several games in our reserves this season.

Yeah, I profiled Nick Potter in the NSW profiles. Better off using a rookie selection on him, I don't think he is very quick. Good player though.

No the smokey in question is not a NSW player. Having said that Sydney may well draft or rookie list either Potter or Archibald I am not in a position to tell.

Well there are 1000 names in the draft every year! How about a clue - what club did he play for in 2003?

Now that would be too easy wouldn't it? I will give you a clue just beforre the Draft commences.

I think CHF is his go. He could really be a 'trump' player in future years, and you play those types of players in attacking positions.

Surjan would be more likely at 13, if not later still.

Not a chance in hell I'd say. Freo has 10 & 12, WCE 11, he will be taken with one of those if not earlier.

All this fuss over Surjan seems a bit strange to me. Based on what I saw at the Nationals (limited view I know) he looked more like a 2nd round pick to me.

A lot of phantom drafts seem to have him going to a WA club simply because he is one of the best available after Bradley and Ray.

That is probably about where he sits in the overall scheme of things but I don't necessarily agree with him going to one of the WA based Clubs. By that I mean he is not without interest from several of the Eastern based Clubs.
As for the U18's and I am sure dasler will agree, he wasn't 100% fit and it is a testament to his resolve that he performed to the level that he did. What a lot of punters wouldn't know is that he would have played U18's in 2002 but for a rather serious injury.
Make no mistake he is a fierce competitor and doesn't mind how hard it gets add to this his skill level and pace and he presents as a very solid package. I see him very much in the Nathan Brown mould.

Well put yakuza, very informed man. Not quite sure if I personally put him in the Nathan Brown mould, but is very underrated.

Goalden enjoyed your comments on the TAC cup players but everyone seems to be ill-informed about players outside their states, which is understandable.

Everyone was excited about Cooney playing SANFL, but young Surjan was the first Colt here to play WAFL league, along with the four others in Farren Ray, Kepler Bradley, Gerard Wilkie and Theo Adams. If memory serves me correct, he had best figures of 16 possessions and 4 goals in one game, playing predominately from a HFF, FP. Pretty good for a 17 turned 18 year old. Add the Mel Whinnen medal for BOG in GF. I recall Brock McLean getting sunshine thrown at him for that.

The fact of the matter is he was in 3 out of 7 events at draft camp in the top 4. Yakuza is 100% correct with the state 18's, and after watching the videos of the games, I couldn't agree more with his assessment.

The fact is he is an extremely underrated player who has got in under the radar and we at South Fremantle are very excited for what he could become :D

Fair enough - like you said my knowledge of the WA boys is pretty weak. Have you managed to pick up Inside Football yet? There are a lot of WA boys listed that I haven't seen.

Looking forward to your comments when I put up the WA profiles late next week.

Didn't ascert that at all GH, your profiles generally are spot on and of a high calibre!

Yeah I have got inside football, let me know if you want any help on the WA boys!

Top effeort all round by posters in this thread. Make for excellent reading.

Haven't had this much interest in a draft since 1999 when I was wondering who Freo would draft, Pavlich or Hasleby... thanks to Richmond we got both!!

None of them really got me that interested, seemed most of them had been in the system a while. A few will end up on WA rookie lists, but I doubt more than 1 or 2 will be drafted. If Hawthorn takes one I'll defintely be interested!

Agreed. It always helps when you have early picks! :D

Richmond got criticized for taking Coughlan ahead of Cloke.

How could they have possibly been criticised for taking Coughlan ahead of Cloke? Firstly, Cloke was taken before Coughlan, Secondly, Collingwood had already nominated Cloke as their f/s pick, Richmond couldn't take him.

And don't forget that the boy and his brothers don't want to play for Richmond.
