Can some of you please explain to me why you do not rate Brad Green? IMO he is a decent player and may cop too much criticism from some supporters....

I think he is a really solid player - people have a crack at him that he is a reciever. That said, he does get the ball in the clear and is a great kick, the kind of player you do want to have delivering the ball into the F50. He is a good contested mark for his size and is a valuable player to have to throw into the forward line.

Brad Green is a good player. Like Yze he is a great kick for goal and should be used in the forward line. He doesn't get much praise from supporters because at the moment he doesn't have much influence on the game.

Whether we win or lose he will get 20-25 cheap possessions on a wing. If he was playing in the forward line he could kick 5 and win the game off his own boot, time to move him back there.

He would be of far more use to us in the forward line than someone like Dutchy. That would mean we could bring up Moloney, Bate, or even Jones when they're ready to take that last midfield spot. Yze and Green belong up forward. Yze showed that for most of last year, and we all know how good a set shot green is.

vs Adelaide he actually was a big part in many of the clearances so most of his touches weren't just cheap ones on the wing.

ATM he plays as either just a midfielder or just an inside 50 forward (which is rare these days). He needs to develope the ability to play in the middle/wing and then push forward. He would be a hard player for most wingman to matchup on. Bruce manages to push forward after being in the middle and so should Green.

Has anyone else noticed that Green seems to be getting caught without disposing the ball quite a few times recently?

It's probably nothing as I'm comparing his efforts to the likes of Bruce and Pickett who are untouchable with the ball, but I've seen it happen about five times this season.

Probably explained by the fact no one really have much clue about football but can type on the internet like heroes.

In Neitz's absence, ND should play Green forward in a Lloyd like role-leading forward. Worth a punt I think, has the attributes Lloyd does, Green just hasn't been able to prove himself in the forward line.

Yep, must be it. So why are you bothering to join them? Or are you one of them?

Beat me too it!

Can play the boy, but he just seems to go missing when we need him to step up. I like him in the forward line, but others may see that as a waste, although sending him down there more often when Bate, Jones etc. develop wouldn't be out of the question.

I don't like him receiving either, although you can't have a team full of ball winners as they won't have anyone to give the ball too. Good player, even close to great, but no more than that.

Yes, yes, yes! This is exactly what should happen. I always wanted to see Green do this, I think he has a good body for it and a great kick for goal.
I think Green has picked up quite a bit this year. I was always one to have a go at him, hopefully he keeps improving and proves me wrong in a big way.

I personally think he's been excellent this year. He hasn't broken games open, but he has put his body on the line and has not appeared soft at all like he once was.
Agree with the leading forward statements as well, he is great as a forward and if we kept him down there for the majority of the game this week he could really do some damage.

I agree with that. I reckon over the past couple of seasons he has worked hard on being tougher at the contest than previously. I'm going to stand in the minority though and say I like him better coming off the wing and feeding the forwards as well as pushing forwrd on occasion, similar to Bruce. He will also have the odd game where he spends the majority down forward and tears 'em a new one.

Brad Green Sucks and the Melbourne Football Club is a waste of space!

A natural progression from one to another.

I'd like to see Green playing out of the goal square with Miller at CHF and Robbo sorta inbetween. This is while Neitz is away.

I agree with you. Throw in Yze, Flash and Choppy with Bruce drifting forward and I think we would have too many targets.
