Past Brad Lloyd

He understands better that he’s been stealing a living for years and doesn’t really give a shit about the supporters.

This guy as the Head Of Football and Diesel who probably doesn’t know what day it is as the Director of Football. Time to go.

Football Governance at Carlton has been non-existent for 25 years plus. Skills based board in corporate areas, but football governance and skills in football department and operations excellence, zero.
Our obsession with Carlton supporting board members is short sighted shallow and depriving us with on-field success. We need at least two football directors and Diesel has the onset of CTE by his own admission, thus unfit for Director of Football.

Have you been a GM of Football or a Director on a Board responsible for the football Department of a Football club?

He doesn’t have to. Our decisions of selecting coaches has been poor for 25 years. Brad Lloyd has overseen this football department for 8 years. He’s responsible for all the football department and its operations. He came into the role without any experience in managing a whole football department. Enough is enough.

How are their credentials stacking up as against current output? I’m in a job dictated by results - if my performance was on par with the output of the departments or portfolios over which they have responsibility, I’d be out of a job.

“It’s hard to pin it on an individual, it’s across the board.”

So, if it’s failure across the board, in a department that you’ve lead for 8 years, should we pin it on you Brad, at least to start with?

What a spineless self serving fraud.
Unsurprising after that equally arse covering mid match interview he gave during the Hawks game last year. I’m sure if we were winning games he’d be a lot more definitive about his role. He only got a job because of his surname. We need to get this bloke out of our club asap before he does even more damage.

Under Brad Lloyds tenure
AFL - fail, has over seen 3 unsuccessful coaches in Bolton, Teague & Voss.. Made a prelim and scraped into 8th.
VFL - Fail, never built a side to support the AFL
AFLW - Fail, 2019 made the gf and been a disaster since
High Performance - Andrew Russell.. enough said
Medical - Fail, consistently amongst the leagues longest injury list.
List Managment & Recruiting - Fail, missed the trends for modern football, never replaced Eddie Betts as a small forward, no running half back and a team full of the same types who cant kick..

That he has remained employed for this long is astonishing.
Seriously hard to debate any of this. I'd love to see him asked this and why he hasn't stepped down. Weak as piss club with soft underbelly on and off field.

We need good operators with mongrel and some accountability.

I don't think I've ever come across anyone that has resigned and their performance has maintained or grown before they depart. However, I'll rephrase my opinion to be based around employment at an AFL club.

How many of your jobs were in a high performance industry? Where the success of your role is purely determined by the actions of elite athletes striving to be the best in the country/world at what they do? Where nothing but excellence and perfection is demanded whilst there's 24/7 media coverage around you?

If Carlton Football Club is to win, to be the best club in the most popular & competitive sport in Australia, our key figures need to be all in. Genuinely passionate and driven to achieve, not there to maintain their personal brand & be 'professional' (aka doing the bare minimum).

Downside is, (if true) our head of football has known for some time this is his last year, and I have zero faith his care factor and drive would be at its peak - when we desperately need it to be.

People think football clubs are just businesses these days - they're not. They're full of emotion, history and in the end, are completely dictated by 22 people running around chasing a ball. They have 17 competitors whom almost all operate off the same budget, you can't have key roles (head of football) not all in, during our most important year in a long time.

Gethelred i stand by these comments.

Lloyd’s recent interview sounded like he could not give a single iota of shit. It sounded like he had 1 eye on the horse races or something, whilst he bumbled his way through some answers. He checked out well before the season started.

As for Cook, absolute radio silence and just sounds like he can’t wait to just hand the reigns over. The July timeline is so he can no doubt sort out his tax and Super before EOFY. Again, as I initially stated - checked out. PS, I think it’s very easy to be an ‘agent of stability’ when there’s good people in place, where’s the leadership if there’s not?

There is no place for ‘this is going to be my last year’ in a high-performance environment. Another example I can think of this year is Ken Hinkley, looks totally disinterested compared to other years.

The club doesnt care as they still got 100,000 members afterall. They will start caring if the membership drops. But we are too loyal.
Already emailed the club. I'll always support them but can't in good conscience financially support this. It's a bad emotional and financial investment. More will do the same.

Will be 80k members soon enough -- how many members bought double as to secure finals tickets..
As for Lloyd I was shocked he survived the big review before Voss employment..
So at least we know these external and internal reviews aren't worth the time -- Basically they have all said that football results are independent of the football operations director and he is without accountability for the people he has hired performance .. So in terms of football department performance it a Mickey Mouse position..

where are the Mal Browns or the Wes Lofts of the footy world when you need them?

Would Simpson and Longmire combo work in replacing Brad and Greg? Are they hard enough to force change?
at the very least one of them should be mentoring our coaches.

"Not going to give in to the hysteria ..."

Sit down and shut up everyone, stop being hysterical. Steady as she goes, we'll tweak this or that. Our defence is good and North are a good emerging side.

I cannot bring myself to listen to that. He winds me up so much. If he really understands our frustration he would stop accepting paychecks and hand in his resignation.

Would Ratts be good as head of football?
Would love to have a person who loves Carlton passionately in that role.

I think Ratts is done with a role at Carlton... the way we turfed him out, who would blame him.

But, he is a man of strong character, so it's possible.

Said it before, I would like Bartel for this role if possible.

Or, if we can... poach Danny Daly from Brisbane...

Handed over the #7 jumper to Jagga.

Hamill ventured back. Never say never.
