They have possibly the most uninspiring and rubbish group of senior players ever assembled.
They have some good kids and especially they have a potentially good young spine, on paper they should be set and forget in the KPP department for years.

If they just had some half decent experienced players to support the kids and feed the ball to Caddy and May, they'd be an okay side.

Merrett looks like he has slipped below Marc Murphy

not comparing but did Marc have more soul???

Merrett looks like he is as flaky as ever, but some of his teammates would not help

apart from the odd finish towards a goal looks like Merrett has zip in the holster these days. Essendon has killed him off

Brad Scott looks like he is telling lies to himself, but who is crazy enough to take that role on atm?

What got me with Brad was when he said that the Welsh and the board were all in on the youth policy and knew that there would be hurdles going forward until the kids got better.

Less than a week later

In: McKay, Guelfi, Gresham.

You can't make this stuff up.

McKay is not that bad, sure deficiencies but size etc.. needed

the parish efforts, holding the ball where a joke. Then he won the medal? lol

Right now the club is in the infancy of repeating the cycle of the last 20 years with a fresh bunch of players.
The old custodians of that cycle need to be flushed out asap (Ridley, RedMan, Parish, Mcgrath etc).
McGrath breaking his jaw is a blessing. He is a cancer of mediocre that will only continue metastasising if he remains a leader at the club.
Scott needs to go very soon.
Hird will come in (right or wrong it's a formality at this point; you're welcome).

The once formidable Bombers have turned into paper gliders and it's not good for football. They have an enormous following and their past 20 years has been abysmal. I get the feeling the final week of May will see a dramatic turn of events at "The Hangar". Interesting to note that their fortunes took a huge turn for the worse when they left their spiritual home at Windy Hill and moved their training and administrative base to Tullamarine. Nothing they could do about that, but it has coincided with the biggest crisis in Essendon's football history and with Tassie eating up all the draft picks in 2027 with picks Picks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13 how will Essendon ever get a look in now? Richmond could barely field a team and still won by 3 goals, i suspect heads will roll in coming weeks....

not a fan of redman, too many passengers, senior passengers

Parish seems limited

they need some replacements Langford and others seem to be going through the motions, waiting for something to end

many seem to lack spirit, i think because of the mountain they looking at while Durham show ticker back lacks in other areas, blank canvas really

Blackiston tries hard but he is not near what they need and probably deflates the team. Wright is better option in the ruck, but I think everyone thinks they don't want them to have a go

My mob are only marginally better than the Bombres but at least we do have a couple of good operators behind the scenes working hard to turn things around. I'm highly sceptical of the clowns running the Windy Hill circus as they keep making the same utterly stupid decisions and do not want to learn from their past errors. The longevity of Dodoro is a case in point.

As much as I reckon the Bombres should punt Scott, they won't because they will have to cough up $1.5 million in a pay out to him and that is a lot of money to just piss away.

He should never have been signed on for longer when they did plus the absolute arrogance in not accepting the Merrett trade from Hawthorn means they are, and will remain for some time, a complete & utter basketcase.

Sadly, they have to keep Scott until his contract runs out and then get a newbie in the chair who can grow into the role
alongside the next generation of players.

I read online Bombers fans suggesting the AFL should be giving them some compo/priority picks to help them out but this comes back to a bigger issue in the running of the competition, why do they keep "rewarding" clubs for being run like a complete clusterfock.

If the hierarchy at Essendon are serious about resurrecting their club, they have to go the full 'scorched earth' approach in regards to their list and then keep replacing the listcloggers with quality youth until such time as it finally clicks.

Topping up with two-bob hacks like Gresham & McKay, both on ridiculously over-priced contracts, just has to stop if they ever want to get anywhere above being the butt of many a joke and an outright embarassment to their legion of fans.

this is my guess what happens going forward

in 5-7 years Dimma will come down from the Gold Coast(not saying he will win a premiership there, who knows too many variables) anyway he goes to the Bombers and asks for ten years which is long enough for anyone to get their toys lined up how they want for the Bombers to be successful in their way if that is what the Bombers want and they believe in him.

Dimma might no even desire the job but he did play for them and win there

Hird is a big reason they are in this predicament, and you want to bring him back in?

At least the players they have recruited since the disastrous Dodoro regime are showing something

Robey, Caddy, Farrow and Sharp look they can play. But then they undo all that sensible work with Andrew Welsh getting involved in footy dept stuff and overruling the Merrett deal. Just have to back in the younger players. Really there is no alternative

In 5-7 years time Dimma will be cooked and 60 years old
He will be like Mick Malthouse once he is finished at GC and would have lost the hunger and pockets full
