Re: More surgery for Bradshaw

To retire today? Bad luck for us and the bloke, we had a crack...:thumbsu:

Its a pity as i think if his body held out he would have been a very handy teacher for both Reid and Johnston. I know he can work with them in training but they would have learnt more from him on the field on match day than they would have in training.

I think also if we had a fit Bradshaw we would certainly be a top 4 side this year.

Re: More surgery for Bradshaw

A great shame but I think we all knew it was coming. While he was an expensive project that didn't come to fruition in the end, I don't begrudge the Swans going for him at all. Did their best to make us a better team, which we were when he was sitting in the square. Just a real shame we weren't able to see him play in red and white more than just the 9 times.

Good luck to him for whatever he does in the future.

More I think of it, the more of a shame it becomes. Having a fit Bradshaw sitting in the square would improve out side to no end. Allowing Reid further up the ground as a proper CHF, Goodes out of the forward line, a proper big forward for TDL to crumb off, straightens our side up giving our midfield a confident target to aim at for the get-out kick.

Bugger.

ahh, what could have been! 28 goals in 9 games. Not a bad average.
C'est la vie.
2 huge retirements could have left big holes in our spine. We've been lucky to have guys like Ted Richards, Alex Johnson and Sam Ried step up and fill the void.

Salary Cap Hole is going to be HUGE now with his retirement and that of Craig Bolton. We'll have ample money to re-contract most of our kids, our out of contract seniors and still poach a "name" recruit.

A real shame but I'm not unhappy we took the punt. The few games he did manage to play showed what a valuable asset he would have been had he stayed fit.

I hope his time at Sydney doesn't tarnish the lion's fans respect for the man because he was an absolute warrior for them over the years and extremely underrated for such a talented forward.

Nope I think all the lions fans would respect him and congratulate him on his career. maybe in Rd 22 when swans vs lions he should get a lap showing respect from both clubs.

Also agree we could be a genuine top 4 side had he played full seasons.

We have had a few gambles such as Stephen Tingay and Nick Daffy that didn't work but we at least got some service from Bradshaw.

Good luck to him and his family

Lions supporters wouldn't be too unhappy with him they might have if he took us to three premierships but I think the sour taste for them is Fevola not Bradshaw

Great career and a class player. I too hope that he gets a lap of honour at the SCG in Round 22 when we play the Lions. It would be a great sendoff from both clubs.

It now frees up our young forwards to take the next step without knowing that they were holding a place down for Braddie's return. C'mon Jesse, Sam, Lewis and Daniel - time to make a stand and become great forwards. The opportunity is there for any or all of you! A lengthy AFL career with the Swans awaits the forward who can grasp Bradshaw's position!

Go the Bloods!

Sad news but not unexpected.

Best wishes on retirement and thanks for giving it your best shot.

watched the AFLs highlights video. he was a damn good goal kicker, never took much notice of him at Brisbane. Was hoping he would make a miracle comeback and play well like the semi final last year :(. all well it almost payed off.

one thing we do know hje is a class bloke. We knew it was a risk taking him and when he was on the park early he was an effort machine to go with very clean marking hands. He wasn't just trying to use us as a retirement fund but was attempting to contribute by his hard intense and I imagine painful rehab to get back for the final against the dogs last year.

He's really Brisbane's boy and I hope he makes his peace with the Brisbane football club.

For a Brissy boy Cas he was pretty well liked at our club, look at the players get over to him, great stuff.

p.s, I didnt start this thread, mine was a small post in the injury thread?

And I can spell Bradshaw... thanks for making me look stoopid ya dumb mod.

Re: Bradshaw Retires?

Hey guys. That's bad luck with Bradshaw.

We had a question on the WCE board about contracted retiring players, and thought some one here might know given Bradshaw's retirement.

If a guy retires with a season(s) left to run on their contract, does the contract still count towards TPP, and does the player still get the money?
