He cost us the game.. time he went to the twos.

Bullshit, It was a freak of nature that the ball landed in Stevie's lap, his positioning was 100% correct, watch the replay, had that kick into the 50 fallen short SJ would have had a run at it and marked it, had it gone to him and Maynard, Maynard had front position, Maynard was close enough but the pack that went up blocked his chase for only 2 steps while Johnson just made it through.
It was really really bad luck and you need to be fair when throwing statements like that around.

Also may I add. The stupid ump asking for a review when clearly it was a behind and Howe couldn't move it on quickly to a free man. That cost us as well. Maynard did not cost us that game. In fact he should've won it for us with the second goal he kicked.

Ump had to call for a review as the goal umpire was going to call it a goal.

Maynard is a defender what's his number 1 job?
Classic TG deflection. Get called out, don't address anything in the rebutting post, run with the same disproved argument.

Keep up the good work champ.

Ah yes, and who'll ever forget Schade vainly chasing Lobb back to the goal square as he ran into an open goal and kicked it. Maybe it was that contest that cost us the game. Schade was the defender, his job to defend.

You think we'd know better, he's a troll in every sense of the word. Throws the bait out there and gets a bite every time. I must say though, there's a difference between taking the bait and trying to engage in a discussion, which doesn't appear to be his strongest trait.

The whole "this cost us the game, that cost us the game" argument is a silly one to be honest.
GWS missed many goals that had they had kicked they would have one anyway.
We missed a lot of goals that had we kicked we would have won.
If Sidey hadn't kicked that freak goal, we may not have even been in the game in the final minutes.

When a game is decided by such a small margin you can look back at the game and you will see hundreds of "if only" moments. Selecting one is unfair on the player in mention, whether it be Maynard or Blair or whoever.

I thought Maynard had a great game besides yes a couple of mistakes as did others,
On watching the replay 3 mins to go Elliot passed to him from half back and the kick was a hospital kick,Player had no chance.
Is Maynard a better option playing further up the ground ?
I think so.

10 possesions Blair cost us with the stupid and unessecary free kick.

Really a multitude of reasons and momemts over the course of a game are why we lost.

Btw did i mention Blair only got 10disp playing major mi:(dfield time...

Bananas and Blair come to mind.

It's literally one person. This entire thread is people defending Maynard from TG
Two people. Pretty sure Jesse White is in here hating on the kid too.

Exactly. Besides, we lost the game because Buckley played Reid forward knowing full well that the change of position would cause him to get injured.

It was crap defending from a defender.

I don't mind Maynard but he just doesn't have the defensive instincts, got caught ball watching. Yes Stevie J read the crumb but Maynard needed to be on him pressuring him not 5 metres away letting get an easy snap. If he had been on Johnson and pressured him or tackled him and Johnson still got the goal I could put it down to Stevie J magic but this was an error. Buckley needs to give a role that suits his play style better.

He is doing it hard as a young lad as a defender. It will steel him for when he moves to tge midfield.

Very raw but slowly building to something special

I totally agree with this.
I also think that he has far too many brain fades resulting directly in opposition goals and/or momentum killers which ordinarily wouldn't be acceptable.

It's his 3rd year. He really needs to stamp it out because we can count on one of these major errors every game.

Heath Shaw was always good for a weekly brain fade or two well past his third season.

His favourite being OOF when under no pressure.
